The 2026 high school football season enters a crucial stretch across Pinellas County. Teams face growing pressure as district championships and playoff opportunities hang in the balance. Some programs hope to strengthen their postseason positioning. Meanwhile, others want to finish their seasons with momentum and pride. This week’s schedule features several intriguing matchups. Clearwater Central Catholic visits Lakewood, while Northeast welcomes St. Petersburg for a rivalry showdown. Pinellas Park also hosts Hollins in an important district contest. Elsewhere, East Lake, Clearwater, Gibbs, and several other programs return to action. Florida’s statewide schedule officially identifies October 22–24 as Week 10. However, this preview follows the requested ninth-weekend format for Pinellas coverage.
Clearwater Central Catholic at Lakewood
One of the biggest games features Clearwater Central Catholic traveling to face Lakewood. The Marauders enter the matchup with a 6-2 record. Meanwhile, the Spartans carry a 3-5 record into Friday night. Clearwater Central Catholic has enjoyed greater consistency this season. However, Lakewood possesses enough athleticism to challenge talented opponents. Lakewood quarterback Kreg Brown must establish an offensive rhythm. Running backs Amir Smith and Wayne Walters could help the Spartans control possession. Additionally, receivers Sanjae Green and Mike Reed provide opportunities for explosive plays. The Spartans cannot afford turnovers or costly penalties against a strong opponent. Clearwater Central Catholic will look to establish control early. Its defense must prevent Lakewood from generating momentum through big plays. This contest carries significant postseason implications for both programs.
St. Petersburg at Northeast
The Green Devils and Vikings meet in another important county matchup. St. Petersburg has shown flashes of impressive football throughout the season. The Green Devils defeated Gibbs 20-19 and Pinellas Park 24-13 earlier this year. However, Lakewood handed St. Petersburg a difficult 43-0 defeat. Northeast has experienced similar ups and downs. The Vikings defeated Osceola 16-6 but struggled against Lakewood. Head coach Auggie Sanchez wants Northeast to establish a physical running attack. Quarterback Carter Griffin must manage the offense and avoid mistakes. Meanwhile, Joshua Lewis Jr. could make an impact in multiple phases. St. Petersburg must establish offensive consistency and prevent Northeast from controlling the clock. Both programs understand the importance of this rivalry. Expect plenty of emotion when these teams meet Friday night.
Hollins at Pinellas Park
The Pinellas Park Patriots welcome the Hollins Royals for a district showdown. Pinellas Park enters the final stretch under first-year head coach Takoby Cofield. The Patriots have experienced an inconsistent season. However, their victories over Dunedin, Osceola, and Seminole demonstrated their potential. Pinellas Park defeated Seminole 36-0 earlier this month. The Patriots also dominated Osceola 47-7 in September. Nevertheless, losses against Largo, East Lake, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater exposed areas needing improvement. The Patriots must establish their running game and protect the football. Meanwhile, Hollins hopes to challenge Pinellas Park with sustained drives and disciplined defense. Turnovers could determine the outcome. Pinellas Park must capitalize on scoring opportunities and avoid giving Hollins favorable field position. The Patriots also need their defense to establish control early. A victory would provide valuable momentum before their regular-season finale against Lakewood.

Clearwater at Osceola
Clearwater travels to Osceola for another district matchup. The Tornadoes want to continue their strong tradition under head coach Thor Jozwiak. Quarterbacks Tyrone Benjamin and Jaysean Glenn provide offensive options. Meanwhile, running back Kemariae Bullard gives Clearwater a dependable rushing threat. Osceola must counter with a disciplined defensive effort. Tommy Wright and Heljon Franklin could play important roles for the Warriors. Clearwater needs to establish its running attack early. Osceola must create turnovers and capitalize on scoring opportunities.
Dunedin at Gibbs
The Dunedin Falcons visit the Gibbs Gladiators in another important district contest. Gibbs quarterback Jordan Calvin and running back Steven Alexis give the Gladiators an experienced offensive combination. Additionally, receiver Cedric Jackson provides another weapon for head coach Herbans Paul. Dunedin quarterback Ben Tifer must lead the Falcons against an aggressive Gibbs defense. Defensively, Wade Robertson and Ethan Shipley could help Dunedin disrupt the Gladiators’ offense. Gibbs enters the matchup hoping to build on its 54-6 victory over Anclote earlier this month.
Sickles at East Lake
The East Lake Eagles welcome Sickles for a matchup with postseason implications. Quarterback Jace Delk leads an offense featuring running back Brian Ford. Ford gives East Lake an important rushing threat. Meanwhile, Kyle Grimm provides another offensive weapon. Defensively, Tommy Clark and Adrian Rutledge must help contain the Sickles offense. East Lake hopes its home-field advantage will make a difference.
Boca Ciega at Berkeley Prep
The Boca Ciega Pirates face a difficult road challenge against Berkeley Prep. Berkeley Prep enters the matchup with a 5-2 record. Meanwhile, Boca Ciega carries a 3-5 record. Pirates quarterback Noah Walstad must deliver an efficient performance. Zy’Quayvion Williams and Gary Mitchell could provide explosive offensive opportunities. However, Berkeley Prep possesses a talented roster and enters as a formidable opponent. Boca Ciega must limit turnovers and sustain drives to challenge the Buccaneers.
Calvary Christian at Tampa Catholic
Calvary Christian travels to Tampa Catholic for another important district matchup. Quarterback Jaden Quenga leads the Warriors’ offensive attack. Running back Jack Wang and receiver Colton Outzen could provide additional production. Defensively, Gavin Holloway and Quinn Conrad must help slow Tampa Catholic’s offense. Calvary needs consistency throughout all four quarters. A strong defensive performance could create opportunities for the Warriors.
Countryside at Seminole
Countryside visits Seminole on Thursday, October 22. The Cougars feature quarterback Cam Waddington and running back Dontavius Miley. Meanwhile, Seminole hopes quarterback Ryan Abbott and running back Geo Robinson can generate offensive momentum. Countryside’s defense features Zion Poole and Cale Boles. The Warhawks must protect the football and avoid surrendering explosive plays. Both teams want to establish momentum heading into their final regular-season games.
Anclote at Tarpon Springs
The Tarpon Springs Spongers host Anclote in another Thursday-to-Friday weekend matchup. Tarpon Springs hopes to take advantage of its home field. Head coach Jeremy Frioud must prepare his team for a physical contest. Anclote presents another challenge for the Spongers as both programs approach the regular-season finish. Execution on third down and red-zone efficiency could determine the outcome.
Palm Harbor University at Strawberry Crest
The Palm Harbor University Hurricanes travel to Strawberry Crest. Head coach Michael Mullaney wants his team to finish the season with strong performances. Running back Garrett Perkins and receiver Grahm Pitcock could make significant offensive contributions. Defensively, Logan Rapp and John Daniels must help the Hurricanes control the line of scrimmage. Palm Harbor needs to avoid costly mistakes against its Hillsborough County opponent.
St. Petersburg Catholic at Carrollwood Day
The St. Petersburg Catholic Barons face one of their toughest challenges. Carrollwood Day enters Friday’s contest undefeated at 8-0. Meanwhile, St. Petersburg Catholic carries a 5-3 record. The Barons must control possession and prevent Carrollwood Day from generating explosive scoring plays. An upset would represent a major accomplishment for St. Petersburg Catholic.
Indian Rocks Christian at Westminster Academy
Indian Rocks Christian travels to Fort Lauderdale to face Westminster Academy. Quarterback Lukas Strandberg must lead the Eagles’ offensive attack. Meanwhile, defensive standouts Anthony Cavallaro and Logan Cox could make a difference. The Eagles must remain disciplined against a challenging road opponent. A strong defensive performance would improve their chances of victory.
Keswick Christian at Sarasota Christian
The Keswick Christian Crusaders travel south to face Sarasota Christian. Quarterback Grant Cook provides versatility for Keswick’s offense. Meanwhile, linebacker Josiah Loeffler could play a significant defensive role. The Crusaders must manage their roster carefully because several players contribute on both sides. Conditioning and execution could become important factors during the second half.
Other County Teams
Northside Christian and Largo have no games scheduled this weekend. Northside Christian returns October 30 against Lakeland Christian. Largo hosts Osceola on October 30. The remaining schedule gives both programs additional preparation time before their regular-season finales.
Final Thoughts
The final weeks of high school football always bring excitement throughout Pinellas County. Clearwater Central Catholic and Lakewood headline the weekend. However, several other matchups deserve attention. St. Petersburg and Northeast renew their rivalry. Pinellas Park hopes to deliver another strong performance against Hollins. Meanwhile, East Lake looks to strengthen its postseason position. For some teams, district championships remain within reach. Others hope to finish their seasons with pride. The pressure will only increase as the regular season approaches its conclusion. Friday night football means more than wins and losses. It brings communities together and gives student-athletes opportunities to create lasting memories. With playoff opportunities hanging in the balance, expect another exciting weekend across Pinellas County.
