Merrimack received a standout weekend performance from Army ROTC Defender of the Week freshman goaltender Linards Feilbergs, who extended his winning streak to three games by helping power a road sweep of Notre Dame. Feilbergs turned in back-to-back 30-plus save efforts, turning away 32 of 33 shots in Friday’s 2-1 victory before stopping 30 shots in Saturday’s 6-3 triumph. Offensively, defenseman Seamus Powell and forward Nick Pierre each scored goals in both contests. Powell netted the game-winner on Saturday night, while Pierre scored Friday’s winner to extend his point-scoring streak to four games (5G, 1A).

Terriers and Huskies Split Intra-Conference Set
The slate also featured a pair of intra-conference series. Boston University and the University of Connecticut Huskies split a two-game set that kicked off Thursday night, with the Terriers walking away with four out of a possible six points in the league standings. Thursday night’s opener was decided in overtime, as UConn forward Joey Muldowney netted the game-winner with less than a minute remaining in the extra frame. On Saturday, Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week defenseman Xavier Villeneuve led BU to a 6-3 victory by dishing out three assists—the most by any defenseman in Hockey East over the weekend.
Friars Sweep River Hawks Behind Parsons and Cali
Providence and UMass Lowell also opened conference play, with the Friars gaining the upper hand in a weekend sweep. It marks the 12th time in series history that Providence has swept the River Hawks, pushing the Friars’ head-to-head record against UML to 25-15-1. The 25 losses represent the most against any Hockey East opponent for UML head coach Norm Bazin.
Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Week Jack Parsons turned aside 30 shots to post his second shutout of the season in Friday’s 3-0 victory, following up with a 25-save performance in Saturday’s 5-2 win. Parsons finished the weekend with a 1.00 GAA and a .966 save percentage. Offensively, freshman forward Ryder Cali tallied two goals on Saturday night to tie for the league lead among rookies with four goals on the season.
Non-Conference Round-Up
Elsewhere across the league, Boston College welcomed the University of Denver to Conte Forum, where the Pioneers went 1-0-1 across the two-game set. Maine completed a two-game sweep of Colgate, capped by goaltender Petter Wickström Stumer’s 24-save shutout in Saturday’s 3-0 win. Meanwhile, UMass Amherst secured a 5-3 victory over Stonehill, powered by a three-point performance (2G, 1A) from sophomore forward Jack Galanek.
