On Saturday afternoon, the Boston College Eagles played host to the Pittsburgh Panthers (5-2, 2-2 ACC) in ACC action. The Panthers entered the game riding a five-game road winning streak, while the Eagles (3-3, 1-2 ACC) were looking to push past the .500 mark overall and capture a key league win. A win that would keep them in the ACC race.
Boston College won the opening coin toss and deferred to the second half—a decision that backfired immediately. On the first play from scrimmage, Pitt quarterback Corey Dailey found Cataurus Hicks (5 catches, 135 yards, 1 TD) down the right side, who cut left and dashed untouched into the end zone for a 75-yard catch-and-run. The scoring play took just 12 seconds, putting Pittsburgh ahead 7-0.
BC’s first offensive series ended in a quick three-and-out. On the ensuing punt, the attempt by Andy Quinn was blocked by the Panthers and kicked out of the end zone by Quinn for a safety, extending Pittsburgh’s lead to 9-0 before fans were comfortably in their seats. The Panthers capitalized on their next possession, orchestrating a five-minute drive that concluded with a 28-yard field goal by Antonio Chadha to stretch the margin to 12-0 with eight minutes left in the first quarter.
The Eagles’ offense showed life on its second drive. A 6:12 march downfield was capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run off right tackle by Bo MacCormack. Quarterback Mason McKenzie sustained the drive with three key completions to three different receivers: a 16-yard strike down the left sideline to Javarius Green, a 14-yard connection to Jonathan Montague Jr. on the right, and a 13-yard pass to tight end Danny Edgehille on the left. The first quarter ended with Pitt leading 12-7.

In the second quarter, a promising BC drive—aided by several penalties on the Pittsburgh defense—ended abruptly when a McKenzie pass was intercepted by Raion Strader at the Panthers’ 2-yard line. However, Boston College quickly answered on defense when a Dailey (11-of-25, 193 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs) pass over the middle was deflected and picked off by KP Price for his third interception of the season, setting up the Eagles at their own 46-yard line.
BC’s two-minute offense executed efficiently to take the lead with 51 seconds remaining in the half. McKenzie completed two passes to Montague Jr. for 21 total yards down the left sideline, as the wideout fought through hand-contact to haul in the catches. On the next play, McKenzie found Green on the right side for an 11-yard touchdown—Green’s first touchdown of the season—giving the Eagles a 14-12 halftime lead.
