The final Friday night showcased the competitiveness of Pinellas County football. Some programs celebrated impressive victories, while others faced disappointing conclusions to their regular seasons.
Clearwater Central Catholic Dominates Clearwater 44-0
The most anticipated matchup featured undefeated Clearwater visiting Clearwater Central Catholic. The Tornadoes entered with a perfect 9-0 record and hopes of completing an undefeated regular season. However, the Marauders had other plans. Clearwater Central Catholic dominated the contest and secured an impressive 44-0 victory. The Marauders delivered their highest-scoring performance of the season while shutting down Clearwater’s explosive offense.
Clearwater entered averaging 36 points per game through nine contests. Sophomore quarterback Jaysean Glenn and receiver Joseph Archer helped establish that impressive offensive production. However, Central Catholic’s defense prevented the Tornadoes from scoring. The victory improved Central Catholic’s record to 8-2 and extended its winning streak to three games. Meanwhile, Clearwater suffered its first defeat and finished the regular season at 9-1.
Head coach Chris Harvey’s Marauders now have considerable momentum entering the postseason picture. Meanwhile, Clearwater coach Thor Jozwiak must help his team respond to its toughest setback. The result also gives Central Catholic bragging rights in Clearwater. More importantly, the Marauders demonstrated their ability to challenge another successful program.
East Lake Crushes Countryside 53-8
East Lake delivered another impressive performance against Countryside. The Eagles traveled to face the Cougars and dominated the contest from a scoring standpoint. East Lake secured a convincing 53-8 victory, extending its winning streak to three games. The Eagles also handed Countryside its first home defeat of the season. Both programs finished the regular season with identical 6-4 records. However, their final performances created dramatically different feelings entering November.
East Lake’s offense continued its impressive late-season production. The Eagles had already defeated Palm Harbor University and Sickles during their previous two games. Meanwhile, Countryside struggled to contain another explosive offensive performance. The Cougars entered Friday with four consecutive home victories, but East Lake ended that streak. For East Lake, the victory provides an encouraging conclusion to the regular season. Countryside must regroup after allowing 53 points in its final scheduled contest.
Lakewood Edges Pinellas Park 23-20
One of Friday’s closest contests featured Lakewood visiting Pinellas Park. Both teams entered hoping to conclude their regular seasons with victories. Lakewood survived a competitive battle and defeated the Patriots 23-20. The Spartans snapped their three-game losing streak and improved to 4-6. Pinellas Park entered following a 35-13 victory over Hollins. However, the Patriots could not build another victory against Lakewood. Running back Jhai Hitchcock delivered an outstanding individual performance despite the defeat.

Hitchcock rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown on just 13 carries. Additionally, his longest run covered 63 yards. His performance gave the Patriots a significant offensive weapon throughout the contest. However, Lakewood found enough scoring opportunities to escape with the victory. The Spartans finished their regular season at 4-6, matching Pinellas Park’s record. For the Patriots, the three-point defeat provided a frustrating conclusion to the regular season. Nevertheless, Hitchcock’s performance demonstrated the talent within the program. MaxPreps.com +1

Friday’s victory gave St. Petersburg another convincing result against a county opponent. Meanwhile, Seminole struggled to match the Green Devils’ scoring production. The result provided St. Petersburg with an encouraging finish and another reason for optimism heading into the postseason picture.
Tarpon Springs Handles Gulf 36-13
Tarpon Springs continued its impressive season with a 36-13 victory over Gulf. The Spongers entered Friday riding a four-game winning streak and extended that streak to five. The Spongers improved to 8-2 and secured another convincing victory at home. Their defense also continued contributing to the team’s success.
Meanwhile, Gulf finished its regular season at 5-5. The Buccaneers struggled during the second half of their schedule after an earlier three-game winning streak. Tarpon Springs now has an impressive regular-season résumé and considerable confidence entering November.
Dunbar Escapes Gibbs 17-16
Gibbs nearly delivered one of Friday’s biggest upsets against Dunbar. The Gladiators welcomed a Tigers program that entered with a 7-2 record. However, Dunbar escaped St. Petersburg with a narrow 17-16 victory. The one-point margin made this one of the closest games involving Pinellas County teams.
Gibbs entered with a 4-5 record and faced a challenging opponent. Nevertheless, the Gladiators remained competitive against a program with seven victories entering the contest. The defeat leaves Gibbs with a 4-6 regular-season record. Although the Gladiators fell short, the narrow margin demonstrated their ability to challenge strong competition.
St. Petersburg Catholic Wins 32-12

Pinellas County Turns Toward the Playoffs
The final week provided several memorable moments across Pinellas County. Clearwater Central Catholic delivered the biggest statement by ending Clearwater’s perfect season. Meanwhile, East Lake finished with three consecutive victories, and Tarpon Springs extended its winning streak to five. Lakewood also ended its difficult stretch with a narrow victory over Pinellas Park. For Clearwater, the challenge now involves responding after its first defeat. The Tornadoes still have an impressive 9-1 record despite Friday’s disappointing result.
Central Catholic enters November with confidence following its dominant performance. Additionally, Tarpon Springs and East Lake have reasons to feel encouraged about their recent play. However, regular-season success does not guarantee postseason victories. Teams must continue executing, limiting turnovers, and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. For programs without playoff opportunities, attention turns toward developing younger players and preparing for 2027.
Friday also marked an emotional milestone for seniors throughout the county. Some will continue competing in November, while others have played their final high school football games. Ultimately, the 2026 regular season delivered exciting rivalries, outstanding individual performances, and several memorable finishes. Now, Pinellas County’s postseason hopefuls turn their attention toward the next challenge. The regular season has ended, but the pursuit of championship football continues.
