In front of a sellout crowd of 17,581 at Barclays Center, the New York Liberty (23–15) weathered a late fourth-quarter rally by the Indiana Fever (24–14) to secure a 109–102 win. The night was highlighted by the return of winger Leonie Fiebich—playing her first game since July 3 following a foot injury—who provided an instant spark off the wing. The victory brings New York within a half-game of Indiana in the Eastern Conference standings as teams fight for middle-tier playoff seeding. Statistically, New York became just the fifth team in WNBA history to score 109+ points in regulation three times within a single regular season.
First-Half Paint Dominance & Third-Quarter Surge: New York set an aggressive offensive tone early, shooting 65% in the opening frame behind Jonquel Jones’ dominant interior presence. Jones poured in 17 of her 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds before halftime, steering New York to a 53–49 edge at the break. Out of halftime, the Liberty erupted for 32 third-quarter points on 76.5% shooting from the floor, with Fiebich and Sabrina Ionescu combining for 19 points in the frame to extend New York’s lead to 85–78 heading into the fourth.
Pivotal Closing Run: Indiana mounted a fierce 16–6 fourth-quarter run, capped by a Kelsey Mitchell transition three-pointer with 1:44 remaining to tie the game at 100. New York immediately countered with a game-ending 9–2 run to pull away:
