There are just days left before the Boston College Eagles football team settles into their weekly routine. By the weekend, summer camp will be over, and the grind of the regular season will begin. The Eagles are spending the final few days fine-tuning both sides of the ball, getting ready for next Saturday’s home opener vs Fordham.
On Wednesday, the team took their workout inside Fish Field House because of the morning rain. The skill set of this team was on display early. WR Reed Harris got things going in the right direction with a nice catch and run. Both the offensive and defensive lines are getting plenty of work trying to take control of the line of scrimmage. This is year two of Bill O’Brien running the BC program. It appears that the veteran players are not only buying into the system but also helping the younger members get a better handle on it.
Coach O’Brien believes his team is getting better with each day of summer camp. He is convinced his team “Will be ready” on August 30 against the Rams, while also stating “We’ll continue to strive to improve.” Tuesday’s practice was a stellar one for the offense, with the quarterbacks in sync with their wide receivers and tight ends in the passing game. By day’s end, it was the defense that left the practice field with a good feeling. The front seven is making tackles for losses, and the secondary and linebacking core are making plays by way of interceptions.
Wednesday was also the day for of end-of-season All-Star Bowl games to start putting the list together for their games in January. The Senior Bowl announced its Top-300 list for its game. Five members of the Eagles have made that list. WR Lewis Bond made All-ACC Honorable Mention last year after recording 67 catches for 689 yards and three touchdowns. Tight end Jeremiah Franklin was third on the team with 27 catches, good for 311 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Grayson James, despite losing his starting job earlier in camp, is on this list. He started five games for the Eagles, throwing for 1,202 yards on 106-of-166 passing with six touchdowns and two interceptions.
Offensive tackle Logan Taylor started eleven games a year ago. Ten of those starts were at left guard and one at left tackle. He did not allow a sack in 364 drop-back snaps. That performance earned him a spot on the All-ACC Honorable Mention team. Defensive back Amari Jackson played in only six games for BC last season due to injury. He did have 21 tackles, 5 pass breakups, and an interception.
The Senior Bowl will be played on January 30, 2026, at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the campus of the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama.
