LOWELL FALLS IN LATE RALLY
Cyclones complete ninth-inning rally to beat Spinners 4-3
BROOKLYN, NY – Wrapping up a six-game road trip in Brooklyn (9-3), the Spinners (5-7) looked to gain some solid momentum before returning home. Sadly, a late Cyclones rally spoiled what would have been a big win for Lowell.
The Spinners came out of the gate hot with a pair of singles from Jarren Duran and Andre Colon. After Duran was picked off, Xavier LeGrant hit his first home run of the season to make it 2-0 out of the gate.
Left-hander Brian Brown made his second start of the season. In four innings of work, he struck out three, walked a pair, allowed two runs (one earned), on only three hits.
With a tie game in the top of the sixth, the Spinners loaded the bases with a pair of singles from Tyler Dearden and Trey Ganns and a walk from Alberto Schmidt. Jonathan Ortega drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in a go-ahead walk to put Lowell on top 3-2.
The bullpen held down the Cyclones with four innings of perfect relief from Tanner Raiburn and Rio Gomez. Unfortunately, the Cyclones rallied in the bottom of the ninth to complete a 4-3 victory.
After dropping the rubber match of the series, the Spinners head back to LeLacheur Park to kick off a six-game homestand on Thursday, June 28th with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
