Caitlin Clark delivered another unforgettable performance Friday night. She led the Indiana Fever to a thrilling 110-107 victory over the Seattle Storm. The second-year star scored a career-high 45 points and added 10 assists. She also collected four steals and blocked two shots in a historic all-around effort. Clark became the first player in WNBA history to record at least 40 points and 10 assists in the same game. She also set a new Indiana Fever franchise record for points in a single game.
Furthermore, she reached another milestone by becoming the fastest player in league history to make 200 career three-pointers. Clark reached that mark in only 74 games. She broke the previous record of 81 games, which Hall of Famer Katie Smith established. Those achievements highlighted another remarkable night for one of the league’s brightest stars.
Indiana improved to 15-10 with the victory. The Fever received another outstanding performance from Kelsey Mitchell, who poured in 30 points. Mitchell shot the ball efficiently and provided a steady scoring threat throughout the contest. Monique Billings also made a strong impact with 16 points while helping Indiana overcome the absence of standout forward Aliyah Boston, who missed the game because of a leg injury. Seattle fought hard despite another disappointing result. Rookie Dominique Malonga led the Storm with 28 points and 14 rebounds. She consistently attacked the basket and controlled the glass. Flau’jae Johnson and Awa Fam each added 16 points. Meanwhile, Natisha Hiedeman and Jade Melbourne chipped in 15 points apiece. Even so, the Storm dropped their fourth straight game. Seattle also fell for the sixth time in its last seven contests and slipped to 6-21 on the season.
Clark wasted little time taking control of the game. Indiana matched its highest-scoring first quarter of the season by racing to a 37-26 advantage. Clark contributed five points, five assists, and two steals during the opening period. At the same time, Mitchell caught fire offensively. She scored 17 first-quarter points while shooting 7-for-9 from the field.
The Fever continued their aggressive attack during the second quarter. Clark sparked a decisive 12-4 run by scoring 10 points herself. She capped that stretch with another three-pointer that extended Indiana’s lead to 49-32 with 7:28 remaining before halftime. Her deep shooting forced Seattle’s defense to stretch, creating additional scoring opportunities for her teammates.
However, Seattle refused to fade away. The Storm gradually erased much of Indiana’s lead by attacking inside and finding open shooters. Malonga anchored the comeback effort with strong post play, while Johnson, Fam, Hiedeman, and Melbourne each delivered timely baskets. As the game entered its closing minutes, both teams exchanged big shots. The intensity increased with every possession, and the outcome remained uncertain until the final minute.
Clark then produced one of the night’s biggest defensive plays. Johnson appeared headed for an uncontested fast-break layup with less than a minute remaining. Instead, Clark sprinted the length of the court and blocked Johnson’s attempt off her body and out of bounds with 54.9 seconds left. The hustle play energized the home crowd and shifted momentum back toward Indiana.
Moments later, Clark buried a clutch three-pointer from the left wing to give the Fever a 105-102 advantage. That shot proved critical during the closing stretch. Seattle continued to pressure Indiana, but Clark calmly answered from the free-throw line. She knocked down all four free-throw attempts during the final 17 seconds to secure the victory.
Clark’s performance showcased every part of her game. She scored from long range, created opportunities for teammates, defended at a high level, and delivered in the biggest moments. Her leadership also helped Indiana overcome Boston’s absence and survive Seattle’s late rally.
Mitchell’s 30-point effort gave Clark valuable support all night. Billings added important scoring inside, while the Fever offense reached 110 points through balanced contributions and efficient shooting. Seattle showed resilience despite the loss. Malonga continued her impressive rookie campaign with another double-double, and several teammates reached double figures. Still, the Storm could not contain Clark when the game mattered most.
The Fever previously defeated Seattle 89-78 on May 17. Friday’s matchup looked much different, featuring explosive offense and dramatic late-game moments. Ultimately, Clark’s record-setting night became the difference. Her historic 45-point, 10-assist performance added another milestone to her growing career. More importantly, it helped Indiana earn another important victory as the Fever continue building momentum during the WNBA season.
