There would be no regular-season sweep in Sin City.
Two nights after a disappointing setback against the New York Liberty, the Las Vegas Aces (13-5) returned to the Michelob ULTRA Arena with a vengeance. Behind a dominant 32-point performance from A’ja Wilson and a historic milestone from Chelsea Gray, the Aces emphatically avoided a season sweep at the hands of the Dallas Wings (11-7) with a convincing 99-84 victory in front of a 56th consecutive sellout crowd.
Dallas had controlled the season series up to this point—including a stunning 96-66 blowout victory over the champions back on June 15—but Las Vegas sent an immediate message that Thursday night would play out under a completely different script.

Gray Enters the 4,500 / 2,000 Club
While the victory was a collective sigh of relief for Vegas, the emotional peak of the night belonged to “Point Gawd” Chelsea Gray.
With 24.5 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Gray delivered a sharp interior pass to Kierstan Bell for a bucket, officially marking her 2,000th career assist. Gray finished the evening with 12 points and a game-high 9 assists. In doing so, she became just the fourth player in WNBA history to eclipse both 4,500 career points and 2,000 career assists, bringing her lifetime assist total to 2,003.
How the Game Was Won
- The Lethal Opening Salvo: The Aces played with an edge from the opening tip. After Dallas scored the first basket, Las Vegas orchestrated a blistering run to take a permanent double-digit lead through most of the first half.
- A’ja’s Unstoppable Engine: A’ja Wilson was the best player on the floor, scoring 32 points to go along with 9 rebounds. It was Wilson’s 42nd career 30-point game (ranking second all-time behind Diana Taurasi’s 54) and extended her league-leading double-digit scoring streak to 42 consecutive games.
- The Punch Back: Dallas refused to fold quietly. Led by sophomore sensation Paige Bueckers (25 points) and an aggressive double-double from Jessica Shepard (22 points, 14 rebounds), the Wings orchestrated a massive third-quarter run to trim what was a 17-point deficit down to just four at 53-49.
- Stifling Perimeter Defense: Just as Dallas threatened to cross the Rubicon, Jackie Young answered with a spectacular four-point play to halt the momentum. Young finished with an all-around stellar stat line of 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Aces’ defense completely clamped the perimeter from there, holding Dallas to a dismal 2-of-21 (9.5%) from three-point range, including an 0-of-12 ice-cold stretch in the second half.
Inside the Box Score
“We came in with the focus to kick their butts.” — Aces Forward Cheyenne Parker-Tyus to NBA TV after the first quarter
The Aces backed up that aggressive mindset across every major statistical category:
- Efficiency: Las Vegas shot an efficient 53.3% from the field, compared to Dallas’s 47.1%.
- Rebounding Battle: The Aces completely neutralized the Wings’ typical second-chance opportunities, winning the glass battle 35-24—marking a season-low in rebounds for Dallas.
- Aggression at the Line: Vegas relentlessly attacked the paint, drawing whistles to shoot a season-high 33 free throws, converting 27 of them (.818).
What’s Next?
With the Dallas monkey off their back and wins in nine of their last 11 games, the Aces look fully dialed in as the summer schedule intensifies. They will have a few days to recover before the ultimate regular-season showcase on Tuesday, when they travel east to challenge the New York Liberty in a high-stakes Commissioner’s Cup Championship rematch.
