Coming into tonight’s game, the USF Bulls were averaging an impressive 51.8 points per game, having outscored opponents 259-120 for a +139 point differential in their latest stretch. Over the last five contests, the Bulls posted 560.2 total yards per game and ranked 7th nationally in scoring offense at 40.4 points per contest. Tonight’s atmosphere at Raymond James Stadium was special, as it was the “Salute to Service” night, celebrating the men and women of the U.S. Armed Services. Both endzones and the midfield logo were decorated in USA colors, and the Bulls sported special white helmets and gloves matching the theme. The UTSA Roadrunners arrived looking to spoil the event, and the near upper 70s temperatures provided excellent weather for football. This matchup was critical for both teams, making it a potential season-defining contest, and both sides appeared ready during warmups.
The USF Bulls took the field in their home green tops with white pants, sporting the special white USA helmets, while UTSA wore their road white tops, navy blue pants, and matching white helmets. USF won the toss and elected to defer. The game started with immediate fireworks: on the very first play, the Bulls secured a pick-six, with Tavin Ward intercepting the pass and returning it for the score, quickly putting USF up 7-0. This marked a turnover caused in all but one game this season for USF. Momentum continued to swing their way on UTSA’s second drive; while near the goal line, the Roadrunners fumbled, and the Bulls returned the recovery 85 yards to extend the lead to 14-0. After a subsequent USF turnover on a punt, UTSA managed to get on the board with a field goal, trailing 14-3. With just over two minutes left in the first quarter, the Bulls finally had their first offensive series, culminating in a 17-yard touchdown run by quarterback Bryum Brown, giving USF a commanding 21-3 lead. UTSA responded quickly, getting a touchdown on a controversial play where the receiver appeared to step out of bounds, cutting the deficit to 21-10. However, USF answered immediately with a touchdown pass to Keshaun Singleton, pushing the lead back to 28-10. The scoring barrage continued as Nykahi Davenport burst for a 59-yard touchdown run, extending the advantage to 25 points at 35-10. Within minutes, the Bulls added another seven points, increasing the lead to $32$ points (42-10), capped by a second touchdown pass of the game to Keshaun Singleton.

Nico Gramatica tacked on a 40-yard field goal just before the half, sending the teams to the locker room with the Bulls leading an astonishing 45-10. What a first half for quarterback Bryum Brown: he was a perfect 9-for-9 passing for 175 yards and two touchdowns. In a bizarre statistical footnote, the USF Bulls held the ball for only 7 minutes and 25 seconds in the entire half, yet led by 35 points. Following the second-half kickoff, the Bulls put up another 50-spot on the board within eight plays, taking a 52-10 lead. The Roadrunners switched to a new quarterback, Brandon Tennison, in the second half, and UTSA managed to earn another field goal, making it 52-13. USF answered right back with a 51-yard field goal from Nico Gramatica, extending the score to 55-13. Gramatica set a new program record by successfully hitting five field goals from 50-plus yards.
As the third quarter concluded, the Roadrunners saw a new face under center, as Gaston Moore took over for the Bulls. Despite the quarterback change, UTSA managed to score 10 points in the final quarter. Ultimately, they could not overcome the deficit, losing by 32 points to the USF Bulls. UTSA will now need to win two of its remaining three games to become bowl eligible. For the Bulls, the focus now shifts to the Navy Midshipmen, as they continue to push for a shot at the American Championship and a potential College Football Playoff appearance. This was an exhilarating performance for USF and the fans in attendance at Raymond James Stadium.
