Class 4A Semifinals: #7 Aliquippa Quips (7-3) at #3 New Castle Hurricanes (9-2)

Aliquippa entered the 2025 WPIAL playoffs in an unusual position.
The underdogs.
The Quips had other ideas, especially with the surprise return of quarterback Marques Council, and all #7 Aliquippa did was shock the #2 Trinity Hillers 21-14 last Friday night.
Now, with Council back, the Quips are ready for a revenge match with #3 New Castle, and the winner will move on to play in the Class 4A Championship game against the winner of #1 McKeesport and #4 Thomas Jefferson.
During the regular season Council had passed for 983 yards, nine touchdowns, four interceptions, and rushed for 190 yards.
Josh Lay leads the team with 27 catches for 457 yards and one touchdown. Qa’Lil Goode is 2nd on the team with 18 receptions for 383 yards, adding 128 yards rushing and 10 total touchdowns.
J.J. Work has rushed for 653 yards and eight touchdowns.
The Hurricanes are led by quarterback Marino Graham, who has 1,450 yards passing, 19 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Graham also leads the team with 842 yards on the ground and another 13 touchdowns.
Kai Cox leads the ‘Canes with 548 yards receiving off of 35 receptions and five touchdowns, while Chase Lemmon has 39 receptions for 465 yards and nine touchdowns.
Roderick Proctor has rushed for 293 yards, while Jermaine Walker has produced 220 yards on the ground.
