In college basketball, there are reboots. Then there is what the Binghamton Bearcats are doing. With just five players returning from last year’s team, the rest of the roster is made up of transfers and freshmen. That’s the world of college hoops at the moment. Let’s take a look at what the Bearcats will look like this season.
The two freshmen are 6’7″ guard Jayden Kelsey from Westtown School in Phoenixville, PA, and 6’5″ guard Jake Blackburn from Southborough, MA. Kelsey, rated a three-star recruit by 247Sports, elevated his game to the Division I level by playing AAU ball against older competition. He describes himself as “someone who can play all over the floor.” Blackburn attended Worcester Academy Prep and was ranked among the top 100 players in New England prep basketball following the 2024–25 season.
From the transfer portal comes Jeremiah Quigley, a 5’11” guard who played at George Mason last season. Off the bench, he appeared in nine games, averaging 8.1 minutes per contest. He also spent time at Iona, where he shot 41% from the floor and 77% from the free throw line.
Ryan Richardson, a 6’5″ guard from Missouri State West Plains (NJCAA), led his team in assists (92) and three-pointers (49), and ranked second in scoring at 11 points per game. He recorded 18 double-doubles, including each of the last 11 games, while also averaging 4.1 rebounds per game.
Zyier Beverly, a 6’9″ forward from East Los Angeles College, averaged 10.5 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 54% from the field. He scored in double figures in 14 games and posted four double-doubles. In 2023, he was ranked among the top 60 forwards in his class.
Nevin Ibroci, a 6’2″ guard, joins Binghamton from Oral Roberts. He will be a redshirt freshman. A former 1,000-point scorer and team captain at Brewster Academy, Ibroci did not see any playing time at Oral Roberts last season.
Demetrius Lilley, a 6’9″ forward who transferred from La Salle, averaged 7.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in 19 minutes per game. He played in 25 contests, starting 18, and posted four games with double-digit rebounds. Lilley shot 39% from the field, made 25 three-pointers, and hit 74% of his free throws.
Bryson Wilson, a 6’5″ guard from the University of Buffalo, played two seasons with the Bulls. Last year, he averaged 7.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 17 minutes per game, appearing in 30 contests with one start. His best outing came against Notre Dame, when he tallied 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Sayerr Senghore, a 6’8″ forward from Fort Valley State (Division II), led his team in both scoring (13.1 ppg) and rebounding (8.9 rpg). He shot 57% from the field and 75% from the line, while also leading the team in steals and ranking second in blocks. Senghore posted eight double-doubles.
The Bearcats open their season at Syracuse on November 3.
