The college football season started last weekend, but for the rest of the country, it kicks off this week. One of the many teams that will kick off on Thursday will be the USF Bulls. The Bulls are coming off back-to-back seasons with six regular-season wins. With the six wins, they made it to a bowl game, in which they won both their bowl appearances. This season has a different feeling to it as the first two years under head coach Alex Golesh have been successful. This year, they will be tested right off the bat because they have three out-of-conference games to start 2025. This does not happen very often, but their opening game will be on ESPN. The first three games will be against the top 25 teams. The first will take place against the #25 Boise State Broncos.
The #25 Boise State Broncos come into this season after winning the Mountain West Conference. They went 7-0 in the 2024 season within the Mountain West. The Broncos would fall in the Fiesta Bowl to the Penn State Nittany Lions. They had an explosive offense last year led on the ground by Ashton Jeanty, who is now playing for the Las Vegas Raiders. One of the big games on their schedule is on the road in early October on the road versus the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The same Fighting Irish that were in the college football national championship game last year. It will be interesting to see how their offense will do this year. It will probably be a mix of run and pass. The defense will be tested by the Bulls fast-paced offense. Where they will be tested is that the USF has a great rush attack.
The USF Bulls had an up-and-down season in 2024. One of the biggest reasons is quarterback Bryum Brown got hurt midseason. Brown suffered a leg injury in the Tulane Green Wave game and did not play again for the rest of the season. He is a big part of the offense. After they open against the Broncos, they hit the road for two games versus the Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes. The Bulls will be tested in this game on defense, which has been an issue the last few years. The problem is that they have trouble getting off the field early in the game, which then leaves them tired at the end of the game. The Broncos are a good offensive team, and if they can sustain a drive, this will spell bad news for the Bulls. This game will be exciting to watch.
The game will kick off at 5:30 PM and will be aired on ESPN. The place where it will all happen is at Raymond James Stadium. This is the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will be the home of the USF Bulls for the next two years. The Bulls have an on-campus facility that is being built as we speak. USF will be all black uniforms with black helmets to start their season. There should be more Bulls fans in attendance because the Broncos are coming from Idaho. The weather will be humid as normal, with little rain, so kickoff should take place right on time.
