With the 52nd pick in the second round of the NBA draft, the Golden State Warriors selected Quinten Post from Boston College. The 7-foot center becomes the 17th Eagle to be selected in the top two rounds of the draft. He is the 34th player all-time from BC to be chosen by an NBA team. He is the first since guard Jerome Robinson was taken by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 13th pick in the first round of the 2018 draft. Quinten is the seventh all-time to be selected in the second round.
Post played three seasons at Boston College. He would finish his career as one of the top players in the Atlantic Coast Conference. In 2023-24 he was named to the second-team All-Conference while also earning spots on both the All-Defensive and All-Tournament teams. He led the Eagles in scoring (17 points a game), rebounding (8.1), assists (2.3), and blocked shots (1.7). The points per game became a new career high for Quinten. His overall numbers for the season allowed him to be the only major conference player to put up those numbers for the year. In the ACC, Post was one of only two players to rank in the Top 10 in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots, and field goal percentage during the regular season.
Last season, Post scored 20 or more points 13 times, four times he scored 25 or more points in a game, and he reached 30 or more points three times. He would set new career highs in points (31), rebounds (19), assists (9), blocked shots (6), and steals (6). No player since the 1996-97 season has matched those career highs in a single season. For his career at BC, Post became one of five Eagles players in the last 30 years to average at least 17 points and eight boards. He also knocked down 50 3-pointers, had 100 assists, 50 blocked shots, and 30 steals in a single season.
Quinten capped off his year with an appearance in the 2024 NABC/Reese’s Classic during the Final Four weekend. The Division I All-Star game featured some of the top seniors in the country. Post was named the MVP of the East team after putting together a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. No doubt his performance in that game as well as during the season helped him to become a drafted player.
Next up for Quinten Post should be a trip to Las Vegas for the NBA Summer League in the middle of July.
