If you are looking to make an impression in the world of college basketball, playing in events is a sure fire way of making your point. The Boston College Men’s basketball team seems to have taken that to heart. The Eagles will be a busy team in the early stages of the 2024-25 hoops season.

They have two events that they have been invited to and have accepted. First, on Friday night November 8, the Eagles will be in Annapolis, MD. to play VCU in the Veterans Classic that is hosted by the Naval Academy. Boston College becomes the fourth member of the Atlantic Coast Conference to play in this event. This will be the 11th installment of this one-night doubleheader.

Their opponent, VCU, hails from the Atlantis-10 Conference. Last season, they posted a 24-14 record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NIT tournament. This will be the second time these two programs have met on the hardwood. The last time was in December of 2013 at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, NY. The Rams came away with a 69-50 win in that one. The other game set for Annapolis is the host school Navy taking on Harvard from the Ivy league.

From there, the Eagles will spend Thanksgiving week in the Cayman Islands playing in the eight team Cayman Island Classic. This tournament will run from November 24-28. The other seven teams in this field are, Boise State, Duquesne, Hampton, High Point, Missouri State, South Dakota State, and ODU. The brackets and first round matchups will be released at a later date. Three teams in this field were part of this past Spring’s NCAA Tournament. South Dakota State, Boise State, and Duquesne were a part of that field. High Point was in the CBL championship game where they finished as the runner-up. For the Eagles, this will be their first time playing in the Cayman Island Classic.

In the second year of the ACC-SEC challenge, Boston College will have a home game vs South Carolina. The game will be played on Tuesday night December 3. This will be the fourth time these two Power-5 schools have met on the court. The last meeting took place on January 1 of 2011. Boston College came away with a 85-70 win on the road at Columbia, SC. Last season, in the first installment of the challenge, the Eagles defeated Vanderbilt 80-62 on November 28. That victory was the first for Boston College over an SEC team since they beat Auburn at Madison Square Garden 72-71 on December 12, 2016.

If you are looking to make a resume that will get you some notice in March, this is the way to go about it. The job for BC is to win enough of these games to get that attention.
