Texas Southern Tigers head football coach Cris Dishman has secured the signatures of 15 student-athletes for the 2024 season. Dishman and his staff went coast-to-coast for his inaugural class as five states are represented while Texas remains the foundation with 11 recruits from across the state.
The Tigers continue to add to their foundation with 11 true freshmen along with four transfer student-athletes. This year’s class once again arrives with winning credentials as several participated in their respective state’s title games or earned a league title.
By position, the Tigers added seven defensive signees along with eight offensive signees.

Named one of the top quarterbacks in Pennsylvania by PA Preps…competed in the Elite 11 Regionals…earned All-District 10 honors…led team to multiple playoff appearances…also attended Erie High School and Palmetto Prep (S.C.).

Played two seasons at Georgia Military College…a junior with two years of eligibility remaining…earned all-region and all-district honors in high school… played both guard and center in junior college.
Rickey Evans WR 5-9 175 Dallas, Texas (South Oak Cliff)
Continues the pipeline of South Oak Cliff standouts to Texas Southern…high school teammate of fellow signee Danny Green Jr., named a three-star recruit by On3 Elite…also named a three-star recruit with a Scout Grade of 77 by ESPN.com…recorded 22 receptions for 492 yards and five touchdowns…helped team advance to the 2023 Texas High School Class 5A Division II State Championship game.
Mikado “MJ” Hinson Jr. CB 5-11 185 College Station, Texas (Blinn College)
Played two seasons at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas… a two-time all-academic honoree…was third on the team with five pass breakups in 2023 and tied for third in interceptions…helped lead College Station High School as a senior in 2021 to the Class 5A State Championship game and led team in interceptions.
Rodgecas Gibbs TE 6-4 250 Atlanta, Ga. (Hutchinson CC)
Helped lead team to a No. 3 ranking in the NJCAA and a semifinal appearance in the NJCAA Semifinals…earned KJCCC all-league honorable mention honors…classified as a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining…named second team offense and participated in the 2022 Senior Bowl Classic as a senior at Westlake High School.
Danny Green Jr. RB 5-11 190 Dallas, Texas (South Oak Cliff)
All-area Honorable mention by the Dallas Morning News…earned District 6-5A First team honors… named a three-star recruit by 247Sports…led state-ranked and 2023 Class 5A state finalist South Oak Cliff with 1,395 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior…had 1,123 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior…high school teammate of fellow signee Rickey Evans.
Aaron Kizzee LB 6-2 220 Houston, Texas (Shadow Creek)
Played on one of the top football teams in the Houston area…finished his senior year with 52 tackles and two sacks…named District 23-6A Honorable mention at inside linebacker.
Kordell Rodgers TE 6-4 220 Houston, Texas (Summer Creek)
Named Class 6A Tight End of the Year by Texas HS Football…Named 2023 All-Greater Houston First Team…named Athlete of the Week by the Houston Chronicle and also selected to the District 21-6A First Team…caught 55 receptions for 844 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior as team advanced to the 2023 Class 6A Division II state final.

Two-way standout on both sides of the football…named to the 2023 District 10-4A first team at both wide receiver and defensive back…had 1,000 all-purpose yards and seven touchdowns while compiling 61 tackles, two interceptions and forced fumbles as a senior…named a 3-star recruit by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

Three-star recruit by 24-7 sports…named a Memphis area high school football top performer as a senior on multiple occasions….earned 2023 2nd team 6A Region 1 honors.
Mehki Williams LB 6-1 295 Red Oak, Texas (Red Oak)
Compiled 135 tackles with seven sacks and 14 tackles for loss as a senior…earned honorable mention All-North Texas honors…named to the District 4-5A Division I second team at outside linebacker…led team to a playoff berth.
