On Thursday night, the NBA on TNT crew announced the reserves for the 2024 All-Star Game. In the West, Kawhi Leonard (LAC), Anthony Davis (LAL), Devin Booker (PHX), Anthony Edwards (MIN), Stephen Curry (GSW), Paul George (LAC), and Karl-Anthony Towns (MIN) join starters LeBron James (LAL), Kevin Durant (PHX), Nikola Jokic (DEN), Luka Doncic (DAL), and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. In the East, Jaylen Brown (BOS), Donovan Mitchell (CLE), Jalen Brunson (NYK), Bam Adebayo (MIA), Julius Randle (NYK), Tyrese Maxey (PHI), and Paolo Banchero (ORL) join Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL), Joel Embiid (PHI), Jayson Tatum (BOS), Tyrese Haliburton (IND) and Damian Lillard (MIL).

Several players missed out on an All-Star nod this season due to the 12-player roster. Due to injuries, it is possible that some of the following snubs could end up being replacements for the All-Star Game.

De’Aaron Fox & Domantas Sabonis (SAC)

Kings guard De’Aaron Fox has the stats to land his second All-Star nod, but the fifth-seed Kings do will not have an All-Star this season. In his 40 games played so far this season, Fox has averaged 27.2 PPG, 5.5 APG, and 4.1 RPG. He is currently averaging his highest points per game, three-point shooting percentage while playing the most minutes of his career. Like his teammate De’Aaron Fox, Sabonis has looked impressive this season, being one of the main reasons the Kings are in the playoff picture right now. Averaging a double-double with 19.9 PPG and 13.0 RPG, Sabonis has been a reliable big man in the West. He hasn’t been the flashiest player, but Sabonis has shown why he’s worthy of his fourth All-Star nod.

Victor Wembanyama (SAS)

Another big man in a stacked Western Conference, Victor Wembanyama had a strong chance of being a rookie All-Star. Currently averaging 20.6 PPG and 10.3 RPG, Wemby is leading rookies in several categories. One of the most talked about and watched players this season, Wembanyama could very well be a replacement if a player in the West gets injured before the All-Star Game. Wemby will be a part of the Rising Stars games a couple of days before the game.

Kristaps Porzingis (BOS)

Boston may have two All-Stars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but the case can be made for additional All-Stars. Kristaps Porzingis has been a great addition to the Boston Celtics. While he’s taken a small step back, it is expected to become Boston’s third option. In 35 games so far this season, Porzingis has averaged 19.4 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 2.0 APG. With the Celtics being first in the Eastern Conference, the team is more than deserving of a third All-Star. With injuries to both Joel Embiid and Julius Randle, it is possible that Porzingis can still make the team as an injury reserve.

Derrick White (BOS)

One of the more underrated snubs, Derrick White was heavily pushed as a potential All-Star by Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller. While his stats do not jump off the page compared to other All-Stars (15.8 PPG, 4.0 RPG, and 4.7 APG), his impact on the court cannot be argued. He’s reliable on both ends of the ball, coming in clutch for Boston when it matters most. Even though he was top 10 in fan voting, he had a lot of competition for the reserve guard spots. With all of the East guards in the game currently healthy, it is likely that White will not make the team as an injury reserve.

Trae Young (ATL)

Several weeks ago, it looked like Trae Young would be an All-Star, being the second-highest vote-getter for Eastern Conference guards. Fans votes only made up 50% of votes for the starters, with players and media representatives each making up 25 of the remaining 50%. Recent reports suggested that Trae was not popular amongst other players when it came to All-Star voting. Regardless, Young makes a great case for an All-Star reserve. Averaging 27.0 PPG and 10.9 APG (second most in the league), Young continues to be one of the top guards in the conference.

Myles Turner (IND)

Another possible injury replacement for the injured big men in the East, Myles Turner has had a strong season with the Pacers. Putting up 17.2 PPG and 7.0 in the 47 games he’s played so far, Turner was a big part of Indiana’s explosive start. While they’ve taken a small step back post-In-Season Tournament, the Pacers remain as a strong playoff contender in the conference. This would be his first All-Star nod if Turner becomes an injury replacement.
