The USF Bulls traveled for the first time for a conference game. The place was Annapolis, Maryland. The game was set for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff. Their opponent was the Navy Midshipmen. Coming into the game, the Bulls have never won a game on the road against the Midshipmen. It was a beautiful day in Annapolis. The Naval Academy is a great place. USF was in white tops with gold pants and helmets. Navy had on all navy blue uniforms with gold helmets. The Midshipmen had a coaching and system change. Navy still actively runs the triple option offense. That was something that Head Coach Alex Golesh said they would have to be ready for. This game as far as when came to experts was close and could have been won by either team.

The Navy Midshipmen started the game off very well getting out to a 14-point lead. Navy had a good game and they only turned the ball over once. As is normally the case, Navy out-rushes their opponent. At the end of this game, the Midshipmen had 204 yards on the ground. The Bulls only had 97 rushing yards. The game was lost for Navy in the second quarter. The defense and special teams allowed 16 points. Two points came on a blocked extra point that was returned for points. The score at the half saw the Midshipmen only down by three points. The defense was not ready for the USF offense. They allowed 435 yards of total offense. USF had just come off a game where they had over 500 last week against the Rice. Navy has had two good conference games but has lost both of them.

The USF Bulls came into this game as an underdog like they have in many of their games in 2023. They came out and once again played a solid game. The last three have been solid even the one against the Alabama Crimson Tide. The only bad aspect that happened in this game against Navy was the three turnovers. For the first time in 2023, the Bulls only had one penalty. Coach Golesh mentioned that the penalties have been hurting them and that needed to tighten up. Byrum Brown once again looked good. He went 26-34 for 338 yards and three touchdowns. This was also a big game for Sean Atkins he had four catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns. The defense did well despite giving up 240 yards on the ground.

For the first time in 19 road games, the USF Bulls won on the road. They also have won two conferences and three games in a row. USF has three wins so far in 2023 which is the total wins combined from the last two years. They defeated the Navy Midshipmen 44-30. The Bulls are starting to look like the team that the fans have been wanting to see over the past few seasons. The offense looks great under Byrum Brown despite him making mistakes from time to time. The defense has been aggressive and it has been paying off. The Bulls set their sight on the UAB Blazers for another road game before returning home for the homecoming game against the FAU Owls.
