PHILADELPHIA – The Eagles (8-0) look to keep the perfect record intact against the division rival Washington Commanders (4-5) on Monday Night Football. This fun primetime contest should draw many viewers despite the fact that Washington is performing at about the same level as their expectations which aren’t high. The Commanders have the perfect opportunity to show the league and the fans that this team isn’t the “cupcake” team they envision. A win against the unbeaten Eagles would prove that this team is not to be taken lightly. The Eagles defense doesn’t know which quarterback will face the team so everyone needs to plan for either quarterback. The Eagles will rely on the consistent improviser Jalen Hurts with his dynamic duo of receivers, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. It will be one exciting showdown.
Commanders quarterback and former Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz will be available. However, there’s no word from Washington Head Coach Ron Rivera just yet on it Wentz will start or if Taylor Heinecke will get the nod. The Commanders offense typically plays better under Heinecke but Wentz knows more about the opponent and how to win this game. Rivera might wait until close to kick-off to say which quarterback will play. Will scary Terry McLaurin give the Eagles defense a tough time?
Prediction
Eagles 27 Commanders 17
Other Top Games
Buffalo Bills (7-1) vs Minnesota Vikings (6-2)
This could’ve been the game of the week but there is one problem: Josh Allen might not be available to play. A gruesome injury will likely keep him out. Whoever plays at quarterback will have Stephon Diggs and Gabriel Davis to throw to so taking on the Vikings defense won’t be an impossible task.
Will Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook, and company take care of business on the road? There is a much better chance of winning this game should Allen be out with the injury.
The Bills have a top-level defense but Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson usually finds a way to challenge any pass coverage.
Prediction
Vikings 35 Bills 21
Cleveland Browns (3-5) vs Miami Dolphins (6-3)
The Browns took care of the Cincinnati Bengals. However, Cincinnati didn’t have Ja’Marr Chase to throw to. The Browns defense did something it should’ve done all season: pressured the quarterback. Perhaps Browns defensive coordinator Joe Woods realized that he needed to call more aggressive plays. The defense responded nicely but this week will be an even more significant challenge.
The Browns face off against Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle. Cleveland has the defensive players to play tight man-to-man coverage with Denzel Ward back in the lineup and Greg Newsome will likely go against Jaylen Waddle. Safety Grant Delpit has the speed to cover anyone but his pass coverage hasn’t been the same this year.
Still, right after the bye week, this feels like a game that could feature an upset as the Browns come into the game rejuvenated and ready.
Will the Browns finally win two consecutive games or will we see the “same old Browns”? Running back Nick Chubb and receiver Amari Cooper might have something to say about that.
Prediction
Browns 35 Dolphins 32
