Are you a degenerate gambler? Perhaps you’re someone who picks games against the spread just for fun and to see how smart you really aren’t? If this describes you, or if you just like to be entertained by a crazy sports columnist, you’re in luck, because you’ve stumbled across Against All Odds: NCAA and NFL Picks, a weekly post from the start of the football season, all the way to the Super Bowl, where me, Mike Drakulich (PSN), the man behind Pittsburgh SportsNation, takes on my father, Michael J. Drakulich (MJD), in picking NCAA and NFL games against the Vegas line! Check out the Draftkings welcome offer to see how you can win big and find many bonuses.

I cover both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt Panthers during the season for the fabulous NGSCSports.com!

Normally, we always include the local teams here in Western Pennsylvania, which are Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, and the Pittsburgh Steelers among our weekly picks. This gives me the chance to take shots at the opposing teams I really dislike, enraging certain readers, and adding delight to my busy weekends.

All in all, both my dad and I are pretty good at picking these games, but don’t take our word for it. You’re on your own when you place your bets, so don’t blame us if you lose… but you can share your winnings with us if you wish.

Itchy vs Scratchy. Pepsi vs Coke. Black Spy vs White Spy. Cheers vs Gary’s Old Towne Tavern. History is full of rivalries, but none are better than father vs son! Who will rise above the other this season and become the 2022-23 Against All Odds Champion?

Something amazing happened last week!

One of us managed to put together a winning record… and for the first time since the season opener, it was me at 6-4.

That was good enough to take a two game lead over my dad, who went 4-6.

We still both suck right now, my record standing at a measly 22-28, but it can’t get any worse, right?

I feel pretty good about this week, even with several outstanding match-ups forthcoming. Hopefully, with some luck, we can both get some positive victories going and get back to playing above .500. Ten games as usual, and on five we disagree on. Should be an interesting weekend.

Week 7

Against All Odds Lines as of 10/13/2022

NCAA

Saturday, October 15th

#10 Penn State (5-0) at #5 Michigan (6-0)

Game Time: 12:00 PM at Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI.

Vegas Line: Michigan -6.5

The Pick: PSN: Michigan | MJD: Michigan

Is Penn State for real, or are they a pretender? A trip to the Big House will answer this question in a big way. Neither team has played anyone of note, so the winner will definitely feel like they truly belong in the Top Ten. Kinda hard to go against the Wolverines at home. Go Blue!

#3 Alabama (6-0) at #6 Tennessee (5-0)

Game Time: 3:30 PM at Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, TN.

Vegas Line: Alabama -7.5

The Pick: PSN: Tennessee | MJD: Alabama

Alabama managed to shaft me again last week, so what the hell, why not see if they can do that for a third straight time? If the Vols do lose, they will go down swinging and give Bama a good scare.

#4 Clemson (6-0) at Florida State (4-2)

Game Time: 7:30 PM at Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, FL.

Vegas Line:  Clemson -3.5

The Pick: PSN: Clemson | MJD: Clemson

Florida State started off hot then went Wile E. Coyote off the cliff since. Clemson will add to their free fall down in Tallahassee.

Baylor (3-2) at WVU (2-3)

Game Time: 7:30 PM at Mountaineer Field, Morgantown, WV.

Vegas Line: Baylor -3.5

The Pick: PSN: Baylor | MJD: WVU

These two teams often put up mind-boggling numbers vs one another. One has a feeling it will be a somber weekend in Hoopieville.

#7 USC (6-0) at #20 Utah (4-2)

Game Time: 8:00 PM at Rice-Eccels Stadium, Salt Lake City, UT.

Vegas Line: Utah -3.5

The Pick: PSN: USC | MJD: USC

USC goes on the road and rakes care of business against an overrated Utah team.

NFL

Sunday, October 16th

Tampa Bay (3-2) at Pittsburgh (1-4)

Game Time: 1:00 PM at Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA.

Vegas Line: Tampa Bay -8.5

The Pick: PSN: Tampa Bay | MJD: Pittsburgh

Until Pittsburgh OC Matt Canada is gone, there is little hope for this Steelers team going forward. With the Steelers secondary depleted once again, it will be a breakout week for Tom Brady and his offense that has been quiet so far in 2022.

San Francisco (3-2) at Atlanta (2-3)

Game Time: 1:00 PM at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA.

Vegas Line: San Francisco -5.5

The Pick: PSN: Atlanta | MJD: San Francisco

Atlanta has been cash money vs the spread this year, so let’s see if they can continue that trend vs the 49ers.

New England (2-3) at Cleveland (2-3)

Game Time: 1:00 PM at FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, OH.

Vegas Line: Cleveland -3.5

The Pick: PSN: New England | MJD: Cleveland

New England isn’t that good, but the Browns are, well… the Browns. Another weekend of gloom and doom for Cleveland.

Cincinnati (2-3) at New Orleans (2-3)

Game Time: 1:00 PM at Superdome, New Orleans, LA.

Vegas Line: Cincinnati -2.5

The Pick: PSN: Cincinnati | MJD: Cincinnati

The Bengals were disappointing vs the Ravens, but should bounce back nicely vs the Saints.

Buffalo (4-1) at Kansas City (4-1)

Game Time: 4:25 PM at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO.

Vegas Line: Buffalo -3.5

The Pick: PSN: Kansas City | MJD: Kansas City

The game of the week… I think the Bills win, but by just a field goal with no time left.
