USF Bulls: A Horrible Game Against The Louisville Cardinals

After nearly beating the Florida Gators in Gainesville the USF Bulls traveled to Kentucky. Their opponents would be the Louisville Cardinals. The question that we all had was would they play the same game they did against the Gators? We want to see the team move forward and last week they did. This week would be hard against Malik Cunningham. Cunningham has been compared and many say that he is better than former Cardinal quarterback Lamar Jackson. Last week the Bulls did handle Anthony Richardson very well. Head coach Jeff Scott said in his weekly press conference that he wanted to see them take another step forward. The weather was beautiful in Louisville and the fans were there to cheer on their Cardinals. We wanted to see if the offense could also repeat what they did against the Gators. The Bulls could win if they played like they did last week.

The USF Bulls, as many on social media said, looked the same as they always do. The Cardinals executed their game plan very well. Cunningham ran as he has in his career. The Bulls gave up 258 yards on the ground. Cunningham had 113 of those 258 yards. He also had four touchdowns, three on the ground and one passing. The Cardinals only had one turnover which means they won the turnover battle. Normally the team that wins the turnover battle game. That is what happened yesterday. Louisville had 542 total yards to the Bulls’ 158. Their defense caused the Bulls many problems that resulted in very few points. The problem that the USF defense has had in other games except against the Gators has been containment. Today it came back to be a major issue. I guess it’s back to the drawing board on defense.

The USF Bulls offense looked great last week in Gainesville. This week the Cardinals’ defense made them look like when they played the BYU Cougars. The Bulls were overmatched. USF only had a total of 158 yards for the game. That is awful. Last week they ran the ball for 286 yards today they had 48. I am unsure if they changed the game plan from last week. Many of us would have thought it should have been that way for the rest of the year. Gerry Bohanon looked good last week as well. This week he looked shell-shocked! He threw two interceptions. The Bulls had 28 points last week but they only had three in this game. The Bulls also had as many turnovers as they did points. This was not a good game overall for USF. It all added up to a lopsided 41-3 loss. All they can do is try and rebound for next week.

In my opinion, the USF Bulls took steps back. Maybe the Florida Gators are not that good. Either that or the Bulls used so much last week that they were running on empty against the Cardinals. This is another reason why many are feeling like Jeff Scott is doing the job he should be. Many say Gerry Bohanon has not done that well as a quarterback this year. Former USF quarterback Timmy McClain transferred and maybe if he were here, he would be a starter. Next week against the ECU Pirates they will have to be so much better. The fans of the program get so hyped from a game like last week. This game will continue to leave a bad taste in their mouths. Let us hope they can win or let us say even show up against the Pirates. If they do not Jeff Scott may be on the way out.
