 
        CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College football held its ninth practice of the preseason on Sunday morning. The Eagles’ practice was heavy on offense vs. defense periods and red-zone work. The team, which practiced in full pads this morning, will be in full pads again on Monday for its first of two inter-squad scrimmage days.
Using the Middle of the Field: The offense’s use of the middle of the field was featured in a team period beginning with a Phil Jurkovec throw to Jaden Williams in stride with room to run… safety Cole Batson followed with a PBU on the next play… Emmett Morehead threaded a ball into a tight window for Dino Tomlin, who added 20 yards after the catch… Jurkovec added a completion to Lewis Bond through traffic… linebacker Owen McGowan picked up an interception.
Defensive Stalwarts: The first big play of the day from the defense came on a goal-line interception by safety Steve Lubischer… defensive tackle Cam Horsley and edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku were constantly applying pressure up front… defensive ends Neto Okpala and true freshman Josh Hardy recorded sacks in the same series… defensive end Ty Clemons recorded a TFL and chased a QB from the pocket… Boston College got strong linebacker play on the day; led by Kam Arnold.
Playmakers: Taji Johnson continues to make strong catches in the end zone and true freshman receiver Joe Griffin Jr. once again had his size and strength on display in the red zone… freshman tight end Jeremiah Franklin held onto a ball in the end zone despite contact… Pat Garwo ran consistently hard behind his o-line… true freshman running back Cam Barfield scampered for a 12-yard touchdown run… Jurkovec read the field and took off for a six-yard TD run… Morehead rolled out and through on the run to true freshman running back Alex Broome for a TD in the front corner of the end zone… Dante Reynolds went up for a catch over his defender in the end zone for a touchdown from Morehead.
