The NFL schedule will be released Thursday, May 12 and there’s always some upbeat energy from the fans before the schedule is released. Every year is a new beginning with infinite possibilities and new expectations. Teams with new players from free agency, trades, and the draft might rise to become a Super Bowl contender. There is always some juicy week one possible game we might see so let’s go through a list of some of the best possible games we might see in week one.

A few possibilities with the defending Super Bowl Champion, the Los Angeles Rams. The Super Bowl Champion traditionally has the first game of the year. What are the most likely matchups for the Rams?

Thursday Night Kickoff: Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers

Let’s have the California juggernaut teams face each other! The Rams won it all while the San Francisco 49ers had a golden opportunity to be that team too. The 49ers have one of the best defenses out there and need to develop a consistent passing game. Granted most of that success was due to the amazing season for receiver Deebo Samuel who requested a trade but the 49ers will still find a way to be a playoff team. Division rivalries can also make things interesting for opening week.

Another potential Thursday Night Kickoff: Rams vs. Bills: There is more of a guarantee of a close game with this potential matchup. Although the Bills need to get their running game, this team has one of the top passing units and can play some solid defense. Quarterback Josh Allen is on the rise and has a great connection with Stefon Diggs. The NFL can really nail the schedule release by announcing these two teams will open the season.

Other games we could see:

Steelers vs. Browns- The Sunday Night game for the ages?

Let’s assume for a minute that new Browns starting Quarterback DeShaun Watson will avoid a suspension. Although some may question having him play opening week for even the possibility he did something against the NFL’s personal conduct policy, he is the current week one starter for the moment. We could see Watson against the Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Quarterback Kenny Pickett right away. A division rivalry with what could be a dynamic quarterback matchup is impossible to resist. Could the NFL schedule these two teams right away in a primetime matchup? Many could consider it controversial regardless of whether Watson violated the NFL’s policy or not but for now, there is at least a slight chance these two teams could face each in a week one extravaganza. There is a lot of history and some bad blood between these two teams.

Bengals vs. Falcons- A fun Monday Night game to end week one

I don’t know about everyone else but this would be a dream come true. Quarterback Joe Burrow is in his third year playing for the Bengals in his home state. Desmond Ridder might start for the Falcons and let’s not forget he played for the Cincinnati Bearcats! These two young, star-powered offenses could be capable of breaking an NFL record for most points scored in any game so the NFL should make this happen. Burrow, Running Back Joe Mixon, Receiver Ja’Marr Chase, Receiver Tee Higgins, and Receiver Tyler Boyd would take on Ridder, rookie Receiver Drake London and Tight End Kyle Pitts. Sign us up for this one!

These are a few possibilities for the best possible week one games that could be primetime matchups. Let’s see what happens on Thursday.
