Texas Southern head football coach Clarence McKinney added eight student-athletes to its 2022 recruiting class on Wednesday during the first day of the spring signing period.

The Tigers focused on line play during this recruiting cycle with a total of five offensive linemen signed. TSU also added depth to the wide receiver room with a pair of wideouts along with a linebacker. McKinney also continued his emphasis on infusing the program with players who’ve played at the highest level as four student-athletes played in their respective classification’s state championship game with two earning state titles. In addition, several also earned all-state honors for their performance throughout the season at a high level.

The state of Texas also continues to be the foundation for TSU as six signees hail from the state along with student-athletes from Louisiana and Ohio.

The total haul for the 2022 TSU football recruiting class stands at 14 student-athletes as the Tigers signed six during the December period.
