It’s that time of the year when Fantasy Football fanatics start to get their draft in order before the big day. There will be plenty of decisions to be made if one is looking to become the champ of their league or leagues. Let’s take a look at the guys I think are worth the effort.

Stephon Diggs– Wide Receiver- Buffalo Bills- The league leader in receiving yards will be the top pick for those who favor drafting receivers early. Though he could be an early second-round choice, some fantasy football owners could gamble and select Diggs on the first round. 2020 season- 1,535 receiving yards, 8 receiving touchdowns.

Patrick Mahomes– Quarterback- Kansas City Chiefs- Mahomes may or may not be available in rounds 2 or 3 but if he’s there, it’s probably best to avoid passing up on such an obvious steal. It may be better to wait until after round one for a quarterback. 2020 4,740 passing yards, 38 passing touchdowns.

Derrick Henry– Running Back- Tennessee Titans-The safest bet in fantasy football this year is drafting Derrick Henry in the first round. Some may favor drafting Christian McCaffrey or taking a chance that Saquon Barkley doesn’t miss a lot of games with an injury. However, it’s best to avoid rolling the dice. Taking Henry is the smart decision. 2,027 rushing yards, 17 rushing touchdowns.

Nick Chubb– Though he missed several games with an injury, Chubb managed to run for over 1,000 yards anyway. If he stays healthy, Chubb will have a monster year and he is capable of leasing the league in rushing yards or touchdowns if he avoids a long-term injury. The Cleveland Browns will likely still rely on the ground game so Chubb is definitely another safe bet. 2020 season- 1,067 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns.

Dalvin Cook-Running Back- Minnesota Vikings- Cook isn’t nearly as safe a bet as Henry and Chubb but he could be an early-round steal if both players are off the board. Cook has an injury history but he was healthy last year and completely dominated in the running game. 2020 season- 1,557 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns.

Travis Kelce– Tight End- Kansas City Chiefs- The reliable league leader in tight ends may go off the board in the first 3 rounds. The right end position tends to be the most tricky to draft in fantasy football. Why wait until the 5th or 6th round? 2020 season- 1,416 yards, 11 touchdowns.

D.K. Metcalf– Wide Receiver- Seattle- Metcalf made a new for himself in just two years. I’d you want to draft another receiver who will be one of the league leaders in receiving yards, draft Metcalf in the first 4 rounds. 2020 season- 1,303 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns.

Darren Waller– Tight End- Las Vegas- Waller was only second to Kelce. One of a few reliable tight ends, Waller has the speed and strength to create matchup problems. 2020 season 1, 196 receiving yards, 9 receiving touchdowns.

James Robinson– Running Back- Jacksonville Jaguars- Robinson was a shocking rookie and he may get a lot of carries early on to take the pressure off of the first overall pick of the 2021 draft, Trevor Lawrence. Robinson may be off the board before round 4. 2020 season- 1,070 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns.

Aaron Rodgers– Quarterback- Green Bay- Rodgers could be playing his final season in the NFL so this is time to draft him. Rodgers was one of the league’s best passers last season and that’s not likely to change. 2020 season- 4,299 passing yards,48 passing touchdowns.

Other players to consider early:

Justin Jefferson-Wide Receiver- Minnesota Vikings

Tyreek Hill- Wide Receiver- Kansas City Chiefs

Julio Jones- Wide Receiver- Tennessee Titans

DeAndre Hopkins- Wide Receiver- Arizona Cardinals

Najee Harris- Running Back- Pittsburgh Steelers
