One reason for Hudson Valley’s success may be in the form of Chris Betts. He is second in the league in home runs with nine, second in best HR/AB ratio at 1/22.89, fourth in slugging percentage at .456, and fourth in extra-base hits with 25.
Another guy getting it done with the bat is Williamsport Crosscutters Ben Pelletier. He has appeared in 66 games this year, fourth-most in the league. He is third in doubles with 17, slugging at .484, and at-bats with 246. He is second in hits with 67, in RBI with 45, and total bases with 119.
Francys Peguero, of the Auburn Doubledays, has put together a nice season on the hill this summer. He has an overall record of 4-3, with a 3.02 ERA. He is second in WHIP at 1.07, fifth in average at .228. and 62.2 innings pitched. He has allowed 53hits, walked 14, and struck out 43.
Christian James of Brooklyn, is also doing the job on the mound. He is second in innings pitched with 71.2, and fifth in WHIP at 1.12. Overall, he is 4-2 with a 2.01 ERA, 61 hits giving up, and 45 K’s to 20 BB.
One of the hottest hitters in the league in the month of August was Lowell Spinners infielder Grant Williams. He batted .326 in the month and has raised his average to .263, after hitting under .200 through the end of July.
Next week will be our final edition of the notes. We will have the playoff schedule and look at the individual leaders in some of the categories across the New York Penn League. See you next week.
