LOWELL DOMINATES RENEGADES 8-0

Six-game losing streak comes to an end in Hudson Valley

FISHKILL, NY – After losing a season-high six games in a row coming into Tuesday, the Spinners (22-22) had finally had enough and emphasized that with an 8-0 beatdown of the Hudson Valley Renegades (28-15).

The bats were ready to go in this one with the offense getting on the board in the first inning. Grant Williams led off the game with a walk and Lane Milligan singled to move him into scoring position. Devlin Granberg later grounded out but managed to bring home Williams to make it 1-0.

Xavier LeGrant added to the lead in the top of the second with a two-run home run to push the lead to three runs. It was the second home run of the season for LeGrant.

Starting pitcher Thaddeus Ward turned in arguably the best start of his young professional career. In four innings, he allowed only three hits, struck out a pair, and kept the Renegades off the scoreboard.

Jarren Duran launched his second home run of the season in the top of the fifth to make it a 4-0 ball game. With the solo shot, Duran added to his league-leading .548 slugging percentage.

The Spinners put the nail in the coffin in the top of the seventh with four doubles in the inning that put three runs on the board courtesy of Williams, Milligan, Granberg, and Kole Cottam.

Cottam added the final run in the top of the ninth with an RBI-single to bring home Duran, pushing the lead to 8-0.

Hunter Haworth starred out of the bullpen with five scoreless innings in which he struck out seven batters and allowed only two hits.

The series comes to an end tomorrow with Chris Machamer scheduled to take the mound for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
