Spinners beat Brooklyn 3-1, win streak extends to 11
Road trip kicks off with pitcher’s duel in Brooklyn
BROOKLYN, NY – After winning their franchise-record 10th straight game on Thursday, the Spinners (20-14) hit the road to head to Brooklyn (18-16) for a quick road trip and continued to make history along the way.
The Spinners got on the board first in the top of the second inning. Tyler Dearden singled and Alan Marrero reached on a fielder’s choice to put a pair on for Korby Batesole. A wild pitch would lead Dearden to come in from third to make it 1-0 Spinners.
Tyler Esplin powered in a second run for the Spinners in the top of the fourth when Tyler Esplin blasted a solo home run over the wall in center field. It was his third home run of the season, tying him for the team-lead.
The lead continued to grow in the top of the fifth after Batesole singled up the middle. After stealing second base, Grant Williams singled home the run to make it 3-0 Lowell.
Starting pitcher Yorvin Pantoja took the mound for Lowell and delivered five scoreless innings. Though he walked four batters, he struck out one and surrendered only one hit.
Rio Gomez threw two innings of relief. The left-hander allowed one earned run, struck out one, and allowed a pair of hits.
Kevin Biondic closed it out for the Spinners over the last two innings to pick up his first career save and to extend the Spinners win streak to eleven games.
With a 3-1 victory, Thaddeus Ward takes the hill Saturday for the Spinners with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
