College football is back, and that means another fall of conference notes from the Atlantic Coast Conference. Here is what’s took place after week one.

Television and the ACC continue to be a match made in heaven. The ABC September 2 broadcast between Florida State and Alabama delivered a total live audience of over 12.5 million viewers. It becomes the most watched kickoff weekend game ever across all networks. The Sunday night matchup with Virginia Tech and West Virginia had its highest rating of any college game that evening by 32 percent.

The ACC teams will play more games vs Power Five conference opponents in 2017 than any of it peer leagues. The conference also has a higher percentage (.393) of its non-conference games against Power Five teams than any other league.

In his first career start, Georgia Tech QB TaQuon Marshall set an ACC record for rushing yards with 249 on 44 carries, in the double-OT loss to Tennessee. He also scored five times.

The Yellow Jackets ran for 535 yards in that game. The total was the fourth highest by an ACC team in history, and the most against a ranked opponent.

Going into their game VS Auburn this past Saturday, Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney had a .706 winning percentage against teams ranked in the top 10. The defending champs are 12-5 under Swinney in those games.

In their season opening win VS Kent State, the Tigers allowed just one-yard passing. The conference record is minus one which was set twice previously. Clemson has also won 10 or more games in each of the last six years. The Tigers are only the 11th team to have 10 or more wins in six straight seasons.

North Carolina State running back/specialist Nyheim Hines was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll for his performance against South Carolina. Hines had a total of 26 touches, one touchdown, and 192 all purpose yards rushing, receiving, and return yards by punts or kicks in a loss to the Gamecocks.

Wolfpack QB Ryan Finley threw for a career-high 415 yards in that game. He completed a school record 45 passes on the afternoon.

We will be back next week with more news on the ACC.
