Milwaukee Brewers
MILWAUKEE — No deficit seems too daunting, no moment too grand for the 2026 Milwaukee Brewers. They just keep on winning and winning.
On Saturday night at a rocking American Family Field, the Brewers proved once again that they are MLB’s ultimate comeback artists. After starter Logan Henderson surrendered four runs in a nightmarish top of the third inning, Milwaukee’s bullpen slammed the door shut while the offense methodically chipped away, rallying for a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of the World Series.
With the victory, Milwaukee captures a commanding 2-0 series lead as the Fall Classic shifts to St. Petersburg. For Pat Murphy’s squad, it marked their seventh come-from-behind win of this storybook postseason—tying them for the fourth-most in a single postseason in Major League Baseball history.
Early Nightmare: Henderson’s Third-Inning Stumble
Entering Game 2, Milwaukee looked to build on its Game 1 heroics, but starter Logan Henderson hit immediate turbulence in the third inning.
After two clean frames, Henderson lost his command in the top of the third. The Rays capitalized on the mistake, stringing together a walk and three hits—headlined by a clutch RBI knock—to plate four runs and shock the Milwaukee home crowd. Henderson was pulled after just 3.0 innings, yielding 3 earned runs (4 runs total) on 3 hits and a walk on 64 pitches.
Facing an early 4-0 abyss, many teams would have folded against Rays staff ace Drew Rasmussen. The Brewers, however, simply flipped their switch.
The Resilient Comeback: Chipping Away at Rasmussen
Milwaukee’s bullpen immediately stabilized the game, allowing the offense to go to work.
In the bottom of the fourth, rookie Cooper Pratt drew a walk, advanced, and scored when Rays first baseman Jonathan Aranda misplayed a grounder by David Hamilton for an error. The mistake knocked Rasmussen out of the game early and gave Milwaukee its first breath of life, cutting the lead to 4-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, Sal Frelick provided the game’s emotional explosion. Stepping in against the Tampa Bay bullpen, Frelick launched a game-tying, solo home run deep into the center field bleachers to erase the four-run deficit and knot the score at 4-4.
Game-Breaking Moments: Defensive Gems and Pratt’s Clutch Hit
Before Milwaukee could take the lead, their defense saved the game in the top of the sixth. With Tampa Bay runner Liam Hicks attempting to score from second on a Victor Mesa Jr. single to left field, superstar Jackson Chourio fielded the ball cleanly and delivered an absolute strike to catcher William Contreras at the plate to nail Hicks and keep the game tied 4-4.
The decisive blow came in the bottom of the seventh inning. With Brice Turang on base, rookie Cooper Pratt delivered the biggest hit of his young career, lining a go-ahead RBI single off Rays reliever Kevin Kelly to score Turang and push Milwaukee ahead 5-4.
Bullpen Perfection: Ashby Seals the Deal
Milwaukee’s elite bullpen finished off the masterclass. Relievers Abner Uribe and Aaron Ashby combined to completely neutralize Tampa Bay’s hitters down the stretch.
Ashby, virtually unhittable in the 2026 postseason, recorded the final five outs to earn the save. With his two strikeouts on Saturday, Ashby pushed his postseason strikeout total to 15 while holding opposing batters to a microscopic 4-for-44 (.091) batting average across October.

How Can the Rays Come Back?
For Kevin Cash and the Tampa Bay Rays, the uphill climb is now gargantuan. Teams taking a 2-0 lead in a best-of-seven World Series have gone on to win the title nearly 85% of the time.
To turn this series around as it moves to Tropicana Field for Game 3 on Monday, October 26, the Rays must find answers for two critical problems:
-
Capitalize on Momentum: Tampa Bay built a four-run lead and had runners in scoring position late, but crucial baserunning mistakes—like Hicks getting thrown out at home—cost them precious insurance runs.
-
Solve the Milwaukee Bullpen: Once Henderson exited, Milwaukee’s relief corps shut the door completely. The Rays’ core hitters, including Junior Caminero and Jonathan Aranda, must generate early traffic and force Milwaukee’s high-leverage arms into long pitch counts before the seventh inning.
The Series shifts to St. Petersburg on Monday, where Tampa Bay will attempt to save its championship dreams, while Milwaukee stands just two wins away from the first World Series title in franchise history.
