The Vermont Catamounts have been a mainstay of the America East Conference since their arrival. Over the last 11 seasons, the Catamounts have been picked as preseason favorites 10 times, including this year. They have reached four of the last five championship games, though they fell to UMBC in last spring’s league title game. In the 2026–27 preseason poll, Vermont earned 62 total votes and seven first-place votes, with forward Gus Yalden representing the squad on the Preseason All-Conference team. The Catamounts don’t rebuild—they retool.
