Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season delivered cardiac finishes, iconic individual performances, and major divisional realignments across the league. From Joe Burrow’s six-touchdown heroics in an overtime thriller to a game-ending goal-line sack in Denver and a crushing fourth-quarter collapse in Arlington, Sunday proved once again that no lead in the NFL is ever truly safe. That in the NFL, you don’t get a win just because you are supposed to win.
Joe Burrow’s Six Touchdowns Lift Bengals Over Titans in 43-36 Overtime Shootout
At Paycor Stadium, the Cincinnati Bengals outlasted the Tennessee Titans 43-36 in a wild, back-and-forth overtime classic.
Tennessee took an early 13-0 lead behind rookie quarterback Cam Ward (26-40 304 yards, two TDs), who turned in the finest performance of his young career, completing passes downfield for a career-high 304 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Tony Pollard added 117 rushing yards on 21 carries with two touchdowns, including a 40-yard scoring sprint in the first quarter.
Despite throwing three interceptions, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow delivered a masterclass in resilience, finishing 38-of-48 for 462 passing yards and five touchdown passes. Burrow connected with Ja’Marr Chase 11 times for 141 yards and a touchdown, while Tee Higgins erupted for 10 receptions, 155 yards, and two scores—including an 18-yard touchdown with 1:17 remaining in regulation to tie the game at 36-36.
In overtime, Cincinnati received the kickoff and drove 70 yards in five plays, capped by Burrow taking matters into his own hands with a nine-yard touchdown run. The Bengals defense then forced a turnover on downs to seal Cincinnati’s fifth victory of the season.
Malcolm Roach’s Fourth-and-Goal Sack Flips AFC West as Broncos Edge Chiefs 28-24
The Denver Broncos claimed first place in the AFC West with a thrilling 28-24 comeback victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Empower Field at Mile High.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was sharp throughout the afternoon, completing 30 of 41 passes for 321 yards and three touchdowns. Trailing 28-24 with seconds remaining, Kansas City marched to Denver’s goal line, setting up a dramatic fourth-and-goal play with the game on the line.
Mahomes dropped back to pass on the final play, but Denver defensive lineman Malcolm Roach burst through the interior offensive line to sack Mahomes at the goal line as time expired. The game-ending stop preserved Denver’s comeback win and dramatically shifted the AFC West standings in favor of the Broncos.
Goff to Williams Stuns Undefeated Vikings in 19-15 Lions Triumph
The Minnesota Vikings’ bid for an undefeated season came to a sudden end as the Detroit Lions pulled off a 19-15 victory at U.S. Bank Stadium, handing Minnesota its first loss of the year.
The Vikings appeared to take control midway through the fourth quarter when quarterback Kyler Murray threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to tight end T.J. Hockenson and followed with a successful two-point conversion pass to Jordan Addison, putting Minnesota ahead 15-12.
However, Lions quarterback Jared Goff engineered a decisive response. With 4:35 left in the fourth quarter, Goff found wide receiver Jameson Williams for a go-ahead 7-yard touchdown pass. Detroit’s defense shut down Minnesota’s final drive to secure the victory. The win came at a physical cost for Detroit, as linebacker Jack Campbell was carted off with a neck injury, while safety Brian Branch and edge rusher DJ Wonnum were evaluated for concussions.

Ryland’s OT Field Goal Caps Wild Cardinals Comeback as Cowboys Fall 33-30
At AT&T Stadium, the Arizona Cardinals rallied from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Dallas Cowboys 33-30 in overtime. Dallas did not trail at any point during regulation, but once again found a way to let a late lead slip away.
After Arizona scored a late fourth-quarter touchdown to pull within one point at 30-29, Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland missed the potential game-winning extra point, sending the game into overtime tied 30-30.
Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense failed to capitalize, going three-and-out on their opening possession of overtime. Arizona capitalized on the opening, driving into field goal range where Ryland redeemed his earlier miscue by drilling the game-winning 33-30 field goal. The victory marked Arizona’s fifth consecutive win at AT&T Stadium, prompting Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to call the collapse “an indictment of the whole show” during postgame interviews.
