The Georgia Bulldogs delivered another statement victory against the Florida Gators on Halloween afternoon. Georgia defeated Florida 27-8 on October 31, 2026, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The third-ranked Bulldogs controlled the rivalry matchup through defensive pressure, timely turnovers, and a physical rushing attack. Meanwhile, the 17th-ranked Gators struggled to establish offensive consistency against one of the SEC’s toughest defenses.
Georgia entered the contest with a 6-1 record, while Florida arrived at 5-2. Both teams carried significant postseason aspirations into their annual rivalry showdown. However, Georgia quickly established control and forced Florida into an uphill battle. The Bulldogs built a 24-0 halftime advantage and never surrendered their lead.
Georgia’s Defense Sets the Tone
Florida won the opening coin toss and deferred possession until the second half. Georgia immediately demonstrated its willingness to establish the running game. Quarterback Gunner Stockton helped move the Bulldogs downfield during their opening possession. However, Georgia failed to capitalize when Peyton Woodring missed a 43-yard field goal. Florida’s opening offensive possession quickly turned into trouble. Defensive back Ellis Robinson IV intercepted quarterback Aaron Philo, giving Georgia an early defensive breakthrough.
The Bulldogs continued applying pressure throughout the opening quarter. Meanwhile, Florida struggled to generate sustained drives against Georgia’s aggressive defensive front. Running back Nate Frazier finally broke the scoreless tie late in the first quarter. Frazier scored on a one-yard touchdown run with 1:50 remaining.
Woodring converted the extra point, giving Georgia a 7-0 advantage. The touchdown capped an eight-play, 41-yard drive that consumed more than four minutes. Georgia’s defense continued frustrating Florida throughout the second quarter. Defensive back Demello Jones intercepted another Philo pass, creating another scoring opportunity. Woodring capitalized with a 28-yard field goal, extending Georgia’s lead to 10-0.
Bulldogs Deliver the Knockout Punch
Georgia continued controlling the line of scrimmage as the second quarter progressed. Stockton managed the offense effectively, while the Bulldogs leaned on their running backs. Freshman Bo Walker extended Georgia’s advantage with a one-yard touchdown run. His score completed a 10-play, 81-yard drive and gave the Bulldogs a 17-0 lead. However, Georgia’s biggest play came during the final minute before halftime. Florida quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. attempted to create momentum after replacing Philo. Jones connected with receivers Dallas Wilson and Bailey Stockton as Florida finally advanced into Georgia territory.
Then disaster struck for the Gators. Georgia linebacker Quintavius Johnson sacked Jones and forced a fumble. Chris Cole recovered the football and raced 66 yards for a defensive touchdown. The spectacular return gave Georgia a commanding 24-0 halftime lead. Florida entered the locker room facing serious offensive questions. Georgia had forced three turnovers and capitalized on Florida’s mistakes. The Bulldogs also controlled the rushing battle during the opening half. Stockton contributed 40 rushing yards, while Frazier added 33. Meanwhile, Florida’s offense struggled with penalties, turnovers, and inconsistent quarterback play.
Florida Attempts a Second-Half Comeback
Florida head coach Jon Sumrall needed immediate improvements after halftime. Jones continued directing the offense as the Gators searched for their first points. The Gators eventually threatened to score during the third quarter. However, another costly turnover ended their opportunity. Jones threw an interception in the end zone while targeting Eric Singleton Jr. Georgia’s defense once again delivered when Florida needed a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Florida running back Jadan Baugh struggled to find consistent running lanes. Georgia limited Baugh to 38 yards on 17 carries. Jones provided Florida’s most productive passing performance. He completed 16 of 23 attempts for 163 yards. However, those completions could not overcome Florida’s mistakes. The Gators finally broke through with 6:59 remaining in the fourth quarter. Jones scored on a two-yard touchdown run, ending Florida’s scoring drought.
Baugh then connected with Dallas Wilson on a trick-play conversion for two points. The successful conversion reduced Georgia’s lead to 24-8. More importantly, Florida extended its NCAA-record scoring streak to 481 consecutive games. However, Georgia quickly eliminated any realistic comeback hopes. Woodring added another fourth-quarter field goal, pushing Georgia’s advantage to 27-8. The Bulldogs then stopped Florida on fourth down and secured another rivalry victory.

Georgia Extends Its Rivalry Dominance
Georgia’s victory marked its sixth consecutive win over Florida. The Bulldogs improved to 7-1 overall and strengthened their position in the SEC championship race. Meanwhile, Florida dropped to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in conference play. The defeat represented a disappointing setback following Florida’s impressive road victory over Texas. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart once again demonstrated his program’s defensive strength. His Bulldogs forced Florida into mistakes and consistently won crucial situations.
For Florida, turnovers proved devastating. Philo threw two interceptions before Jones entered the contest. Jones later committed two additional turnovers, including the costly first-half fumble. Georgia’s defense transformed those opportunities into points and repeatedly prevented Florida from establishing momentum. The Gators also struggled with discipline. Costly penalties extended Georgia possessions and created unnecessary scoring opportunities. Additionally, Florida failed to establish Baugh as a consistent offensive weapon. The Bulldogs successfully limited one of the SEC’s most dangerous running backs.
What’s Next for Florida?
Florida returns home to face the Oklahoma Sooners in its next matchup. Sumrall must address several concerns before the Gators return to action. First, Florida needs greater stability at quarterback. Both Philo and Jones have demonstrated potential throughout the season. However, Saturday’s performance exposed problems with decision-making and ball security. Second, the Gators must improve their offensive line play. Georgia consistently disrupted Florida’s offensive rhythm.
Finally, Florida needs better discipline against quality opponents. The Gators cannot afford unnecessary penalties and turnovers against championship-caliber competition. Georgia, meanwhile, leaves Atlanta with another convincing rivalry victory. The Bulldogs demonstrated why they remain serious contenders for the SEC championship and College Football Playoff. Florida entered Saturday hoping to make another statement against a nationally ranked opponent. Instead, Georgia delivered the statement.
The Bulldogs dominated the critical moments, controlled the turnover battle, and continued their recent superiority over Florida. For the Gators, the Halloween showdown produced more tricks than treats. And for Georgia, another victory over its longtime rival made Halloween afternoon even sweeter.
