The European Solheim Cup team is officially set for September. Captain Anna Nordqvist has built a team with plenty of experience. She also added several exciting young players. Europe will face the United States at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. The matches will run from September 11-13. The Americans won the 2024 Solheim Cup in Virginia. They claimed a 15½-12½ victory over Europe. Now, Europe wants the trophy back on home soil. Nordqvist finalized her 12-player roster with four captain’s picks. Leona Maguire earned the veteran selection. Three rookies also received picks. Those rookies include Julia López Ramirez, Nastasia Nadaud and Mimi Rhodes.
Charley Hull Leads Europe’s Experienced Group
Charley Hull gives Europe one of its biggest stars. The Englishwoman qualified through the Ladies European Tour Solheim Cup points list. She enters her eighth Solheim Cup appearance. Hull has already collected 16.5 points across 27 matches. She also owns 15 wins in the competition. Her experience could prove valuable against the Americans. Hull also delivered a memorable performance against Nelly Korda in 2024. She defeated Korda 6&4 during Sunday’s singles competition. Esther Henseleit also qualified through the LET points list. The German earned the final automatic spot after an impressive AIG Women’s Open performance. She finished runner-up at Royal Lytham & St Annes. Henseleit enters her second Solheim Cup. She recorded 1.5 points during her three matches in 2024.
Lottie Woad Gives Europe a New Star
Lottie Woad could become one of Europe’s biggest stories. The 22-year-old Englishwoman will make her Solheim Cup debut. She also enters the event as Europe’s highest-ranked player. Woad currently ranks fifth in the world. She has already won twice on the LPGA Tour during her first professional season. She also finished inside the top 10 at the AIG Women’s Open. That performance added more momentum before her Solheim Cup debut. Woad will join fellow automatic qualifiers Maja Stark, Celine Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, Linn Grant and Nanna Koerstz Madsen. Stark returns for her third consecutive Solheim Cup. She also won the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open. Boutier brings four previous Solheim Cup appearances to the roster. She also won the ShopRite LPGA Classic earlier this season. Meanwhile, Ciganda provides one of Europe’s most experienced match-play players. The Spaniard has appeared in every Solheim Cup since 2013.
Maguire Gives Europe Another Proven Performer
Nordqvist’s selection of Leona Maguire could become extremely important. Maguire has already played in three Solheim Cups. She will make her fourth appearance in September. Her record stands out. Maguire has earned 8.5 points across 12 Solheim Cup matches. She owns eight wins, one tie and three losses. She also played a major role in Europe’s 2021 victory. Maguire went unbeaten during her Solheim Cup debut. Her 2026 season has lacked consistency. Still, Nordqvist clearly valued her team experience. Maguire’s match-play history gives Europe another trusted competitor.
Three Rookies Add Excitement
Europe will also introduce three Solheim Cup rookies. Julia López Ramirez will represent Spain. The former amateur world No. 1 has shown plenty of promise. She recorded five top 25 finishes on the LPGA Tour this season. Her results include a strong performance at the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open. Nastasia Nadaud will become another European rookie. The Frenchwoman finished third on the LET Order of Merit last season. She also won the Andalucía Costa Del Sol Open de España. Nadaud has also made the cut in all five majors this season. That consistency impressed Nordqvist. Mimi Rhodes completes the rookie group. The Englishwoman won the LET Rookie of the Year award last season. She also captured three tournaments during her breakout campaign. Rhodes already owns Curtis Cup experience. Now, she gets her first opportunity in the Solheim Cup.
Europe Has a Difficult Challenge Ahead
Team Europe enters the competition with a strong blend of players. Hull, Ciganda, Maguire and Boutier provide significant Solheim Cup experience. Woad, López Ramirez, Nadaud and Rhodes bring youth and energy. That combination could give Nordqvist plenty of options. However, Europe faces a determined American team. The United States also features several proven players. Nelly Korda leads an American roster that includes nine automatic qualifiers and three captain’s picks. Therefore, the 2026 Solheim Cup should offer another intense battle. Europe will have the home crowd behind it at Bernardus Golf. The team will also have a clear objective. Bring the Solheim Cup back to Europe. Nordqvist has assembled a roster capable of doing exactly that. Now, her players must deliver when the matches begin.
