Nick Kyrgios faces another major setback after testing positive for cocaine. The International Tennis Integrity Agency announced his provisional suspension Wednesday. Kyrgios also confirmed the news through a statement on Instagram. The positive test came from an ATP 250 tournament in Mallorca, Spain. Kyrgios provided the sample on June 22, 2026. A World Anti-Doping Agency laboratory later confirmed the result. The laboratory detected benzoylecgonine, which is a cocaine metabolite. The ITIA placed Kyrgios under provisional suspension on August 4. The suspension prevents him from competing in professional tennis events. It also prevents him from attending tournaments under the relevant tennis regulations. Kyrgios has the right to appeal the suspension. However, he has not appealed the decision at this point. His case will continue through the sport’s disciplinary process. Therefore, the current suspension does not represent the final outcome of his case.
Kyrgios Takes Responsibility
Kyrgios addressed the situation himself before the news spread further. The Australian admitted that he made a major mistake. He also accepted responsibility for the positive test.
