WWE Money in the Bank 2026 already has plenty of potential. The event will take place October 10 at New Orleans’ Smoothie King Center. WWE originally scheduled the show for August 29. The company later moved it to September 6. WWE then moved it again to October 10. WWE has not announced most matches yet. However, the post-SummerSlam landscape provides plenty of clues. Bleacher Report recently published an early projected card. The predictions include several major championship matches. They also include the traditional men’s and women’s ladder matches. Of course, WWE could change these plans before October.
Still, several potential matches already stand out. Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. The men’s ladder match remains one of the night’s biggest attractions. An early projection includes Trick Williams, Penta, Je’Von Evans, Dominik Mysterio, Finn Bálor and Sami Zayn. Trick Williams could make plenty of sense in this match. He recently lost the United States Championship to Baron Corbin at SummerSlam. Williams also failed to regain the championship on the following SmackDown. A Money in the Bank victory could give him another path toward a world title. Penta also brings an interesting possibility.
He will challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship in Mexico City. A loss could push him toward the ladder match. Je’Von Evans also fits the match perfectly. He impressed fans during the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match at WrestleMania 42. Meanwhile, Dominik Mysterio could use the briefcase to rebuild his momentum. Sami Zayn and Finn Bálor also remain credible candidates. Both men have stayed close to SmackDown’s championship picture. Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. The women’s ladder match could feature a completely different group. The early projection includes Roxanne Perez, Sol Ruca, Lyra Valkyria, Blake Monroe, Jacy Jane and Tatum Paxley.
Roxanne Perez stands out among those names. Perez could eventually target Liv Morgan’s Women’s World Championship. The two have history through The Judgment Day. Sol Ruca and Lyra Valkyria also need a major opportunity. Both women have struggled to maintain momentum recently. Meanwhile, Jacy Jane could become an intriguing contender. She made an immediate impression after joining Fatal Influence. A Money in the Bank victory could elevate her even further. Blake Monroe also presents an interesting option. She has yet to make her SmackDown in-ring debut. Tatum Paxley could provide another fresh face. She recently arrived on WWE’s main roster.
CM Punk vs. Kevin Owens CM Punk and Kevin Owens could deliver one of the show’s biggest matches. Owens earned a shot at Punk’s Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam. He won a Fatal Four-Way match to become the No. 1 contender. The two then confronted each other on SmackDown. WWE announced their first championship meeting for August 21. That match will take place on SmackDown in Toronto. However, the rivalry could continue beyond that encounter. An early Money in the Bank projection calls for another Punk-Owens showdown. That match would give WWE another major singles bout for the event.
The rivalry also carries enough history and personality to stretch several weeks. Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton. Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton could also settle their issues in New Orleans. Orton returned at SummerSlam during Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship match against CM Punk. Orton hit Rhodes with an RKO. That interference helped prevent Rhodes from regaining the championship. Orton later explained his actions on SmackDown. He pointed toward their WrestleMania 42 encounter. Rhodes defeated Orton at that event before Orton attacked him afterward.
Now, their rivalry has another chapter. A non-title match could give both stars room to focus on their personal issues. That makes Rhodes versus Orton one of the more logical early predictions. Liv Morgan vs. Becky Lynch vs. Stephanie Vaquer. The Women’s World Championship could also receive a major match. An early projection calls for Liv Morgan to defend against Becky Lynch and Stephanie Vaquer. Morgan has already faced both challengers during her current run. Lynch and Vaquer confronted Morgan after SummerSlam. Both women immediately made their championship intentions clear. A Triple Threat could therefore make sense.
Morgan also needs regular championship defenses. She had gone more than 100 days with only one title defense before SummerSlam. That defense came against Iyo Sky at SummerSlam. Adding Lynch and Vaquer would give the division a fresh championship story. Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight. Roman Reigns and LA Knight could headline Money in the Bank. Reigns remain the World Heavyweight Champion. He also has another championship defense against Penta scheduled for Raw in Mexico City. Knight has already made his intentions clear. He confronted Reigns after SummerSlam and demanded another opportunity. The two previously met at Crown Jewel 2023. Outside interference from The Bloodline helped Reigns escape with the victory. Knight wants another match without that interference.
That storyline could lead directly to Money in the Bank. The potential matchup also gives WWE a major championship attraction for New Orleans. WWE Still Has Plenty of Time. The most important point remains simple. This is an early projected Money in the Bank card, not WWE’s official lineup. The company has roughly two months to build the event. WWE can still change nearly every match before October. The traditional men’s and women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches remain the safest bets. WWE has not yet announced their participants. Meanwhile, the championship picture could change several times. Punk and Owens will meet before the event. Reigns will defend against Penta. Other rivalries will also develop across Raw and SmackDown.
That creates plenty of opportunities for surprises. For now, the early Money in the Bank picture looks stacked. Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Liv Morgan and LA Knight could all headline the show. If WWE follows the current direction, New Orleans could receive one of the year’s strongest cards.
