The USF Bulls are coming to another big game, the last before conference play starts. The undefeated Miami Hurricanes come to Raymond James Stadium. Just two weeks ago, USF played the Alabama Crimson Tide on the road. The scoreboard did not show how close the game was. The Bulls’ only loss up till this point is against Alabama. The fans will agree they have played three solid games so far. Last week, after coming off a slow start to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, they got a win 49-24. This game will kick off at 7 PM EST, the fourth time this season that USF has had a late kickoff. So many tickets have been sold that Raymond James Stadium is opening the third level. There have been very few times this has happened in the last few years.
The Miami Hurricanes could be the best college football team in the state. The Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles are off to terrible starts. At this point of the season, the Gators and Seminoles have only one win combined. That win is from the Gators as the Noles have no wins yet in 2024. At this point, the Hurricanes are 18-point favorites. The reason is that Miami has been a juggernaut on offense. In their first three games, they have scored 159 points defeating the Florida Gators, Florida A&M Rattlers, and Ball State Cardinals. On the flip side, their defense has only allowed 26 points. Cameron Ward, the quarterback for Miami, has been listed as an early Heisman Trophy candidate. He will be a challenge for the USF Bulls’ defense. The Hurricane defense will be trying to stop the USF running game that has been the staple of the offense the first three weeks.
The USF Bulls have been tested for the last two weeks and the program has shown they are much better than in the previous seasons. The Crimson Tide tested the Bulls. Many thought that the Southern Miss game was winnable, but the game did not start that way. Look for Alex Golesh and the Bulls to get the mistakes they made last week solved. Bryum Brown, Nay’Quan Wright, and Kelley Joiner must show how much of an impact the ground game has. Also, Brown got better with his passes which he struggled with in the game versus Alabama. The defense will once again be tested. In the first three games, they have been solid. Cameron Ward like Jalen Monroe will test them if the Bulls can get some turnovers and keep Ward off the field on short drives. The way to beat the Hurricanes is to keep them off the scoreboard.
This could be a big win for the USF Bulls. The program has decided to go out and play big teams like the Crimson Tide and Hurricanes. The team has been better last year and so far through three games in 2024. Look for the Bulls to give the Hurricanes their first challenge this season. Miami has not played a really good team so far. The Florida Gators are terrible and with FAMU and Ball State are not much better. The Bulls have played Alabama which is in the top five in the country, USF has had so many of these games that have gone against them, but this might be the one where the Bulls come out on top.
