IRVING, Texas – Former Boston College standout tight end Pete Mitchell is on the ballot for induction into the prestigious College Football Hall of Fame.
The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame announced the names on the 2022 ballot for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame, including Mitchell and 77 other players and seven coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision and 99 players and 33 coaches from the divisional ranks.
Mitchell was a two-time first-team All-American, earning consensus honors in 1994. He is one of only 12 Boston College players to earn consensus All-America honors in school history.
A two-time All-BIG EAST first-team performer, Mitchell led the conference in receptions in each of his last two seasons. At the time, he completed his career at BC, he was the school’s all-time leader in receptions (190) and receiving yards (2,388).
Currently, Mitchell ranks second in BC history in career receptions (190), tied for second in career receiving touchdowns (20), and third all-time in career receiving yards (2,388). No tight end in Boston College history has more receptions, receiving yards, or touchdowns than Mitchell.
Mitchell looks to become the 11th Eagle in the College Football Hall of Fame. Mike Ruth became the 10th former Boston College player or coach enshrined in the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame.
