Eagles Fall to Notre Dame in ACC Tournament
Chloe Sharabba and Carly Severini picked up the two BC hits of the day
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Boston College softball team fell, 6-1, to Notre Dame in the second round of the ACC Tournament on Thursday, May 10 in Atlanta, Ga. at Mewborn Field.
Notre Dame jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning off of a pair of back-to-back solo home runs by Morgan Reed and Cait Brooks. A three-run shot by Brooks in the third inning gave the Irish a 5-0 lead. An RBI single by senior Chloe Sharabba in the third drove home sophomore Olivia Markopoulos. The Eagles would load the bases in the fifth inning, but they were unable to score. The Irish tacked on one more run in the sixth to secure a 6-1 victory.
Senior Jessica Dreswick pitched the first two innings of the game, allowing four hits and five runs. Redshirt junior Allyson Frei threw five innings of relief, allowing five hits and one run while striking out four batters.
The Eagles will await the NCAA selection show on Sunday, May 13.

How it Happened:
- Notre Dame jumped out to an early lead in the first inning off a pair of back-to-back solo home runs by Reed and Brooks, giving the Irish a 2-0 lead.
- Junior Carly Severini and freshman Cami Sellers drew back-to-back walks in the second inning and advanced to third and second, respectively on a ground out to first by junior Allyson Moore, but the Eagles were unable to score.
- Abby Sweet reached on a fielding error by the second baseman to lead off the third inning and Reed drew a walk to put runners on first and second for Notre Dame with nobody out. Brooks hit a three-run home run to left center field to put the Irish up 5-0.
- Markopoulos led off the third inning with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Junior Lexi DiEmmanuele grounded out to the second baseman, allowing Markopoulos to move to third. Sharabba singled through the left side to plate Markopoulos, making the score 5-1.
- The Eagles loaded the bases in the fifth inning as junior Carly Severini hit a single to left, Sellers drew a walk and Chimento was hit by a pitch with one out, but they could not get anything going.
- Ali Wester led off the sixth inning with a single to the shortstop. With two outs, Melissa Rochford singled to center field to plate Wester and put Notre Dame up 6-1.
