CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College has added a Big Ten opponent and College Football Playoff participant to its future football schedules as the Eagles and Michigan State have agreed to a two-game series. The home-and-home series begins in Chestnut Hill on Sept. 21, 2024, while the Eagles make the return trip to Spartan Stadium on Sept. 20, 2025.
It will be the seventh meeting all-time between the two schools in 2024 at Alumni Stadium and the first since the Eagles’ 24-21 victory in the 2007 Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando.
“Philosophically we want to play a strong schedule and adding a future opponent the caliber of Michigan State fits what we want to accomplish,” said Boston College William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond. “To have one of the eight teams that have competed in the College Football Playoff come to The Heights will be exciting for our young men competing on the field and our season ticket holders.”
Boston College leads the all-time series between the two schools 4-1-1.
The Spartans are the fourth Big Ten opponent on future Boston College football schedules. The Eagles will also line up against Purdue (2018, 2020), Rutgers (2019, 2022, 2026, 2027) and Ohio State (2026, 2027).
Boston College returns 46 letter winners and 17 starters in 2017 after the Eagles won three consecutive games to close out the 2016 season, including a 36-30 win over Big Ten foe Maryland in the Quick Lane Bowl. It was the first bowl win for the Eagles since 2007 as BC went to the postseason for the third time in the previous four seasons.
BC opens the 2017 season Friday, Sept. 1 at Northern Illinois (9:30 p.m.) on CBS Sports Network. The Eagles open the 2017 home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. vs. Wake Forest (ACC Network Extra).
Season tickets are now available by visiting BCEagles.com or calling 617-552-4622 (GOBC).
