SEATTLE, WA — The Boston Fleet (6-1) entered the holiday break on a historic high Sunday night, defeating the Seattle Torrent (2-3) in a 3-1 decision at a packed Climate Pledge Arena. In front of 11,023 fans, Boston showcased the depth of its roster by becoming the first team in PWHL history to have all three goals in a victory scored by defenders.
The win marks Boston’s league-leading sixth regulation victory of the season and cements their status as the team to beat heading into 2026.
The Blue Line Attack
Boston’s defenders didn’t just protect the net; they owned the scoreboard. The scoring barrage began early in the first period and continued through the final frame:
- Daniela Pejšová: Just 4:44 into the match, the second-year defender fired a laser from the blue line past Seattle’s Corinne Schroeder to net her first career PWHL goal.
- Riley Brengman: With only five seconds remaining in the first period, Brengman delivered a “jailbreak” shorthanded goal. It was the first such goal ever conceded by Seattle, and Brengman’s second goal in as many games.
- Megan Keller: The Fleet captain put the game out of reach in the third period, capitalizing on a power play with 7:16 remaining to give Boston a 3-0 cushion.
Levy’s Stellar Debut
While the defenders handled the offense, goaltender Abbey Levy was the story in the crease. Making her first start in a Fleet uniform, Levy was nearly perfect, stopping 26 of 27 shots.
Facing her former New York teammate Corinne Schroeder, Levy maintained a shutout until the final minute of play. Seattle’s Jessie Eldridge finally spoiled the shutout bid with just 26 seconds left on the clock, scoring her first goal for the Torrent. Despite the late blemish, Levy’s performance earned her the game’s first star and proved that Boston possesses the most formidable goaltending duo in the league alongside Aerin Frankel.
Physicality and Fallout
The game was not without its costs. Seattle’s first-round draft pick Jenna Buglioni was forced to exit the game in the second period following a hard collision with Boston’s Shay Maloney. She did not return, and the Torrent will be monitoring her status closely over the break.

QUOTES
Boston Assistant Coach Stefanie McKeough on finishing the Fleet’s three-game road trip with a win: “This was a really big bounce-back game for us coming into our third game of our road trip. We spoke as a group about it, taking all of u,s and I really think that showed today with a big shoutout to our goaltending…it was a really strong performance from top to bottom.”
Fleet goaltender Abbey Levy on getting her first start for Boston: “It’s probably the hardest position to be in on a team, that bubble player, where you don’t know when you’ll get in. Coming from last season, I trained hard, I practiced hard, and I know I’d get a chance. Coming to Boston was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve felt the love from the players and staff. They gave me an opportunity, and I’m going to keep taking advantage of every one.”
Torrent alternate captain Emily Brown’s overall reflections on the game: “Credit to them, they played a great game and had us in the D zone quite a bit and made it tough to get some chances. I thought we did some things well overall, but there are definitely some things to go back and work on, and the good thing is, it’s a long season, and we’ll get to peak towards the end, but we played a great game, and we’ll do better next time we face them.”
Seattle Head Coach Steve O’Rourke on special teams’ performance: “I thought power play-wise, just like our group, we were a little out of sync tonight. We weren’t gelling, and we weren’t moving it quickly. A lot of times, special teams is a mirror of your five-on-five play, and I felt we were kind of stuck in quicksand all night long, and that comes into the special teams. I thought our penalty kill was decent tonight for the most part. It’s always a challenge when players that aren’t real killers start off, but I thought Lexie Adzija, Marah Wagner, and Jenna Buglioni did a good job once they got out there. We’ll go back to it and get after it again for Tuesday.”
Looking Ahead
Boston heads into Christmas with the best record in the PWHL. They will return to action on December 27 to take on the Ottawa Charge. Meanwhile, the Seattle Torrent have one game remaining in their homestand, hosting the Montréal Victoire this Tuesday, December 23, before the league-wide break.
