The National Football Conference (NFC) is shaping up for a dramatic finish to the 2025 season, dominated by the two powerhouse teams in the West and an incredibly tight race for the final Wild Card spots. As Week 15 gets underway, the battle for the coveted No. 1 seed and the NFC South title are the stories to watch.
The Division Leaders (The Top Four)
The fight for home-field advantage is currently centered in the NFC West, while the defending NFC champions are battling a mid-season slide.
| Seed | Team | Record | Division | Key Fact |
| 1 | Los Angeles Rams | 10-3 | NFC West | Hold the tiebreaker over the Seahawks for the top spot. Sean McVay’s squad is one of the most balanced teams in the league and can clinch a playoff spot with a win this Sunday. |
| 2 | Green Bay Packers | 9-3-1 | NFC North | Took over the division lead after a critical win over the Bears last week. Their strong conference record ($7-2-1$) puts them in an excellent position to earn a first-round bye. |
| 3 | Philadelphia Eagles | 8-5 | NFC East | The defending NFC champions are reeling from a three-game losing streak, yet still maintain a 1.5-game lead over the Cowboys in the NFC East. They face the Raiders this weekend, hoping to stop the slide. |
| 4 | Carolina Panthers | 7-6 | NFC South | Moved into first place after the Buccaneers’ loss on Thursday night. This is one of the most improbable division leads, with the Panthers relying on a strong running game and solid defense to set up two critical late-season matchups against the Buccaneers. |
The Wild Card Gauntlet
The NFC West is poised to send three teams to the playoffs, swallowing up three of the seven NFC spots.
- 5. Seattle Seahawks (10-3): Locked in a brutal race with the Rams for the NFC West title. Their strong record secures a comfortable Wild Card spot at minimum, but they must win their Week 16 rematch with the Rams to claim the division.
- 6. San Francisco 49ers (9-4): Despite being the third-place team in their own division, the 49ers are firmly in the playoff picture. They come off a bye week with a chance to jump into a higher seed with a strong finish.
- 7. Chicago Bears (9-4): Their five-game winning streak was snapped last week, causing them to fall out of the NFC North lead. They currently hold the final Wild Card spot over the surging Lions due to tiebreakers.
On the Outside Looking In
The race for the final spot will likely come down to teams from the NFC North and a few long shots in the East and South.
- Detroit Lions (8-5): The Lions are one game behind the Bears and Packers, and with the NFC North being so tight, they are guaranteed at least a Wild Card berth if they can run the table. They face the Rams this weekend in a massive elimination game.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-7): After a tough Thursday night loss, the Buccaneers fell to the second spot in the NFC South. They have two games remaining against the division-leading Panthers that will determine the fate of the division.
- Dallas Cowboys (6-6-1): After another frustrating loss, the Cowboys’ playoff chances are hanging by a thread. They likely need to win out and hope the Eagles collapse further, making their path to the postseason extremely slim.
