Are you a degenerate gambler? Perhaps you’re someone who picks games against the spread just for fun and to see how smart you really aren’t? If this describes you, or if you just like to be entertained by a crazy sports columnist, you’re in luck, because you’ve stumbled across Against All Odds: NCAA and NFL Picks, a weekly post from the start of the football season, all the way to the Super Bowl, where me, Mike Drakulich (MPD), the man behind Pittsburgh SportsNation, takes on my father, Michael J. Drakulich (MJD), in picking NCAA and NFL games against the Vegas line! Check out the Draftkings welcome offer to see how you can win big and find many bonuses.

I cover both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt Panthers during the season for the fabulous NGSCSports.com!

Normally, we always include the local teams here in Western Pennsylvania, which are Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, and the Pittsburgh Steelers among our weekly picks. This gives me the chance to take shots at the opposing teams I really dislike, enraging certain readers, and adding delight to my busy weekends.

All in all, both my dad and I are pretty good at picking these games, but don’t take our word for it. You’re on your own when you place your bets, so don’t blame us if you lose… but you can share your winnings with us if you wish.

Itchy vs Scratchy. Pepsi vs Coke. Black Spy vs White Spy. Cheers vs Gary’s Old Towne Tavern. History is full of rivalries, but none are better than father vs son! Who will rise above the other this season and become the 2023-24 Against All Odds Champion?

Another week, another brutal outing by Pitt, the Steeler offense, and… my picks.

Dad fared just a bit better by going 5-5 to my 4-6, so now he leads the season picks by one game with a record of 13-17.

It’s a odd week in college with Pitt, WVU, and Penn State all off.

Unfortunately, we’ll still be treated to another week of watching the Steelers sputter under Matt Canada.

Week 6

Against All Odds Lines as of 10/5/2023

#12 Oklahoma (5-0) at #3 Texas (4-0)

Game Time: 12:00 PM

Vegas Line: Texas -6.5

The Pick: MPD: Texas | MJD: Oklahoma

Both teams are rolling, but hard to go against the Longhorns at home.

Syracuse (4-1) at #14 North Carolina (4-0)

Game Time: 3:30 PM

Vegas Line: UNC -8.5

The Pick: MPD: North Carolina | MJD: Syracuse

UNC has too much offense for Syracuse to keep up in this one.

#20 Kentucky (5-0) at #1 Georgia (5-0)

Game Time: 7:00 PM

Vegas Line: Georgia -14.5

The Pick: MPD: Georgia | MJD: Kentucky

Kentucky comes in undefeated but will leave with shattered dreams at the hands of the Bulldogs.

#2 Michigan (5-0) at Minnesota (3-2)

Game Time: 7:30 PM

Vegas Line: Michigan -19.5

The Pick: MPD: Michigan | MJD: Michigan

The Gophers have their hands full with the Michigan offense, but it will be the defense of the Wolverines that will keep this one from being anything less than a blowout.

#10 Notre Dame (5-1) at #25 Louisville (5-0)

Game Time: 7:30 PM |

Vegas Line: Notre Dame -6.5

The Pick: MPD: Notre Dame | MJD: Notre Dame

Notre Dame survived Duke last week and will scratch out another win this week at Louisville.

The Bills have been on a tear, and that will not stop as they visit Jacksonville in London.

Baltimore (3-1) at Pittsburgh (2-2)

Game Time: 1:00 PM

Vegas Line: Baltimore -4.5

The Pick: MPD: Baltimore | MJD: Pittsburgh

Another week of watching Matt Canada’s offense… when will it end?

Carolina (0-4) at Detroit (3-1)

Game Time: 1:00 PM

Vegas Line: Detroit -9.5

The Pick: MPD: Detroit | MJD: Detroit

The Lions will rip through the soft defense of the Panthers and win quite comfortably.

NY Giants (1-3) at Miami (3-1)

Game Time: 1:00 PM

Vegas Line: Miami -11.5

The Pick: MPD: Miami | MJD: Miami

Miami will be in a foul mood after their whippin’ at the hands of the Bills. The Fish take it out on the other team from New York.

Kansas City (3-1) at Minnesota (1-3)

Game Time: 4:25 PM

Vegas Line: Kansas City -4.5

The Pick: MPD: Kansas City | MJD: Minnesota

The Vikings have been a disappointment all year, as evidenced by their 1-3 record, and those woes will not stop this week when the Chiefs visit.
