KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMass Lowell men’s basketball senior guard Obadiah Noel (Frederick, Md.) has been named to the Division I All-District First Team, as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Tuesday.
“I just want to congratulate Obe on his latest award,” said Head Coach Pat Duquette. “It is certainly well-deserved and I’m both happy for him and proud of him.”
With the honor, Noel becomes just the second River Hawk to earn All-District First Team accolades at the Division I level after Christian Lutete was named to the team in 2018-19.
Noel, a two-time America East All-Conference First Team honoree, averaged a personal-best 21.4 points in 2020-21 to pace all scorers in the league and rank 11th in the country. He has also logged 3.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game.
The guard closed out his senior season scoring in double digits for a school-record 44 straight games and boasted nine, 20+ point games this year, including a career-high 35 points against Illinois State on November 28. He became just the second River Hawk to surpass 1,500 career points during the Division I era with his 26-point performance on January 16 at Binghamton and finished the season with 1,616 total points.
The All-District teams are selected and voted on by NCAA Division I member coaches of the NABC. Noel was one of just four America East student-athletes to earn NABC All-District accolades this season.
