FROST NAMED TO “BEAR” BRYANT AWARD WATCH LIST
“Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year Award will be announced on Jan. 10, 2018
ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – Having taken over the UCF football program following a 0-12 campaign in 2015, in just one season and five games head coach Scott Frost has brought the Knights back into the Top 25. On Wednesday, Frost was named to the 2017 Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year Award Watch List.
Frost has UCF at 5-0 for the first time since 1988 and ranked 20th in both the Coaches and Associated Press national polls. The Knights lead the nation in scoring with 50.6 points per game and are fifth in total offense, totaling 547.2 yards per contest.
In its 32nd year, the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award recognizes the nation’s top college football coaches for their contributions both on and off the field. It is selected after all bowl games are concluded and is voted on by the National Sports Media Association.
Only 20 coaches around the country were named to the watch list, announced Wednesday by the American Heart Association and Marathon Oil. Others on the list, include Alabama’s Nick Saban, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney, and the American Athletic Conference’s Mike Norvell (Memphis) and Charlie Strong (USF).
