Baseball season is certainly at its prime now, with the final teams preparing to move on to the American League and National League Championship Series. On the National league side, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night by a score of 3-1, sweeping the National League Division series in three games. They will move on and play the winner of the Chicago Cubs series against the Washington Nationals. Who will take this one? It is a tight race currently, with the Cubs leading the series 2-1 going into game four on Wednesday on their home turf. Will the Nationals be able to force a game five and return home for the final game of the series? We will find out soon enough!
On the American League side, the Houston Astros defeated the Boston Red Sox by a score of 5-4 in game four of their series on Monday in Boston. It was an intense fight to the finish, but after coming off of a major win in game three, the Red Sox just could not finish the job and force a final game in Houston. The Astros have now advanced to their first ever American League Championship series. On Monday the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians played game four of their series after Cleveland was leading the series 2-1. New York dominated in every aspect of the game, and pulled out a 7-3 victory over the top American League contenders. Game five of this series will take place back at Progressive Field on Wednesday.
Every game that has been played in the playoffs so far have been exciting to watch. When you have the best of the best competing for the same goal, you can bet it will be good baseball. With the way the Astros are playing right now, I could see them going all the way and winning their first ever World Series this year. They have the best offense in the game, and their pitching has been stellar so far in this playoff season. If the Indians can get their bats moving the way they did in the last month of the regular season, they are also very dangerous competitors. The Dodgers also have a chance at going all the way now that they should bring the positive energy from a series sweep into their next series. Anything can happen, that is the beauty of it all! Get ready for a fun few weeks coming up as teams fight for the World Series!
