Honoring Legacy and Character: Futures League Announces 2026 Adam Keenan Award Recipients

With the Futures Collegiate Baseball League season wrapped up, the focus shifts to individual postseason honors, led by the Adam Keenan Sportsmanship & Scholarship Award. Named in memory of former Franklin Pierce, UMass Lowell, and Seacoast Mavericks player Adam Keenan—who passed away in 2011 from Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC)—the award is presented annually to one player from each franchise who exemplifies outstanding attitude, character, and sportsmanship.

2026 Adam Keenan Award Honorees

• Charles Beauregard (Lowell Spinners | Bard College): Appearing in 28 games, Beauregard recorded a .177 batting average with 3 RBIs, 7 stolen bases, 5 runs scored, 3 extra-base hits, and 15 total bases, alongside a .288 on-base percentage and .242 slugging percentage.
• Josh Florence (Nashua Silver Knights | Stonehill College): The right-handed pitcher posted a 3–4 record with a 4.23 ERA and 1.58 WHIP across 38.1 innings. In 12 appearances (6 starts), Florence allowed 43 hits, 26 runs (18 earned), 19 walks, and struck out 18 batters, holding opposing hitters to a .270 average.
• Grady Schopps (New Britain Bees | Salve Regina University): In 23 games, Schopps hit .328 with 8 RBIs, 15 runs scored, 5 stolen bases, 22 hits (4 for extra bases), and 27 total bases. He compiled a .435 on-base percentage, .386 slugging percentage, and three multi-hit games.
• Eric Mathewson (Norwich Sea Unicorns | Eastern Connecticut State University): The right-hander went 1–0 across 10 appearances (5 starts), pitching 23.1 innings with a 5.01 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Mathewson registered 21 strikeouts to 10 walks, allowing 26 hits and 13 earned runs while holding hitters to a .269 average.
• Jake Lopez (Vermont Lake Monsters | University of Indianapolis): The outfielder batted .299 across 31 games with 14 RBIs, 17 runs scored, 10 stolen bases, and 29 hits (30 total bases). Lopez drew 19 walks against just 12 strikeouts while delivering a .447 OBP and .309 slugging percentage, featuring four multi-hit games—including a 4-for-4 performance on June 2 against Nashua.
• Easton Sanders (Westfield Starfires | Louisiana Tech University): A key contributor across 45 games, Sanders hit .287 with 24 RBIs, 18 runs scored, 6 stolen bases, 41 hits (11 extra-base hits), and 56 total bases. He recorded 19 walks, 32 strikeouts, three multi-hit games, and three multi-RBI outings.
• Benny Hess (Worcester Bravehearts | Keystone College): The Bravehearts catcher hit .256 over 27 games with 1 home run, 15 RBIs, 13 runs scored, 1 stolen base, 22 hits (10 extra-base hits), and 37 total bases. Hess posted a 19-to-29 walk-to-strikeout ratio, logged four multi-hit games (highlighted by a three-hit performance on June 2 against Lowell), and threw out 14 baserunners on defense.
