Aliquippa Quips Report

WPIAL Championships (20) | PIAA Championships (5)
Week One: Aliquippa Quips (0-0) at Belle Vernon Leopards
Aliquippa travels to Belle Vernon in the season opener for both teams. Mike Warfield returns as head coach after a one year sabbatical, and both he and his team will be looking to make amends for last season, which was the first time since 2007 that the Quips didn’t make the championship game.
Marques Council, Jr. returns as the starting quarterback, and he’ll be looking to put up some big numbers with Qa’lil Goode, who will be his top target in the passing attack.
Council has committed to play at Yale next year.
The Quips have a bevy of weapons at running back, including Cameron Cannon, who will start, along with Cleaster Longmire IV, JJ Work and Avery Coleman.
The Quips are young, but they are a hungry bunch that is prepared to begin a new run of championship game appearances, and the Leopards will be a good test to see what the future bodes for this season.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM
