WWE closed out SummerSlam 2026 with an action-packed second night inside U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The show featured major title matches, shocking returns, emotional championship victories, and one of the year’s best main events. Roman Reigns defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins in a rivalry built on years of history. Meanwhile, Kevin Owens made a stunning return, Chelsea Green captured championship gold, and Chad Gable finally achieved a lifelong dream.
The event offered something for every wrestling fan. Strong in-ring action, memorable storytelling, and emotional moments helped Night 2 surpass the opening night of SummerSlam. The show opened with a surprise addition to the No. 1 Contender’s Match. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis reinstated Kevin Owens and added him to the contest alongside Finn Bálor, Sami Zayn, and Gunther.
Owens looked sharp despite competing in his first WWE match in nearly 18 months. He battled through the physical contest and reminded fans why he remains one of WWE’s toughest competitors. The four stars traded hard strikes, dramatic near-falls, and signature moves throughout the match.
Late in the contest, Owens hit consecutive Stunners on Bálor and Gunther before planting longtime rival Sami Zayn with another Stunner for the victory. The win earned Owens a future Undisputed WWE Championship match against CM Punk.
The matchup thrilled the Minneapolis crowd and received loud “This is Awesome” chants. It also created a fresh championship rivalry between two elite performers. Owens versus Punk now stands as one of WWE’s most anticipated future matches. Baron Corbin challenged Trick Williams for the United States Championship in the night’s second title match. The contest started slowly before both competitors found their rhythm.
Outside interference changed everything. Rapper Lil Yachty became involved at ringside and crashed through a table during the chaos. Corbin immediately took advantage of the distraction. He struck Williams with the United States Championship before delivering End of Days for the victory.
The win gave Corbin his first United States Championship since 2017. It also positioned Trick Williams for what could become a redemption storyline on SmackDown. Questions also remain about Williams’ future relationship with Lil Yachty following the costly distraction.
The Interim WWE Women’s Championship Ladder Match featured Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton, Chelsea Green, Jade Cargill, and Lash Legend. Every competitor delivered impressive performances while risking everything to climb the ladder.
Jade Cargill appeared close to victory several times. However, interference involving Michin and B-Fab created chaos inside the ring. Lash Legend also impressed by delivering a devastating double-handed chokeslam to Tiffany Stratton from the top rope onto a ladder.
Charlotte Flair and Cargill fought atop separate ladders before both crashed to the floor. Their fall left Chelsea Green alone in the ring. Green climbed the ladder and captured the Interim WWE Women’s Championship. The emotional victory rewarded Green’s persistence and popularity with WWE fans. Her championship celebration became one of the night’s biggest feel-good moments.
The Human Monies on a Pole Match between Danhausen and Dominik Mysterio delivered exactly the entertainment fans expected. The comedic contest featured outside interference, surprise appearances, and nonstop chaos. JD McDonagh attempted to help Mysterio before the Minihausens fought back. Returning
Toritohausen excited the crowd with several high-flying attacks. Joe Hendry later evened the odds by smashing McDonagh with a guitar. Danhausen finally climbed the pole, secured the prize, and celebrated by handing the human monies to fans around ringside. While the match focused more on entertainment than technical wrestling, the audience enjoyed every moment.
The Intercontinental Championship match produced one of the night’s most emotional moments. Chad Gable challenged champion Penta in front of his hometown crowd in Minneapolis.Gable battled through a bloodied forehead and an injured shoulder during the contest. Despite the punishment, he refused to quit. He eventually locked Penta in his trademark ankle lock and forced the champion to submit.
The victory gave Gable the first singles championship of his WWE career. After years with American Alpha, Shorty G, Alpha Academy, American Made, and El Grande Americano, he finally reached a career milestone. Following the match, Gable celebrated alongside his family inside the ring. The heartfelt moment highlighted years of dedication and perseverance.
The main event featured Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Their rivalry stretched back to their days together in The Shield, making this one of WWE’s most personal championship matches.
Both superstars produced an outstanding performance filled with dramatic kickouts, finishing move counters, and emotional storytelling. They also honored former Shield teammate Jon Moxley, formerly known in WWE as Dean Ambrose. Rollins delivered a clothesline inspired by Ambrose, while Reigns used Dirty Deeds during the contest.
Unlike many previous Reigns matches, no Bloodline interference occurred. Instead, Reigns defeated Rollins cleanly after delivering three consecutive Spears.After the bell, both men shared one final Shield fist bump over a Shield mask placed in the ring. The emotional scene symbolized the closing chapter of one of WWE’s greatest rivalries.
Roman Reigns retained the World Heavyweight Championship, while both competitors delivered a match that will likely rank among WWE’s finest contests of 2026. SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 succeeded because every major match accomplished its purpose. Kevin Owens returned in spectacular fashion. Baron Corbin regained championship gold.
Chelsea Green earned a career-defining victory. Chad Gable fulfilled a lifelong dream. Finally, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins produced a main event worthy of SummerSlam. The combination of surprises, emotional storytelling, and outstanding wrestling helped Night 2 outperform the opening night. Most importantly, WWE left Minneapolis with fans eager to see what comes next on both Raw and SmackDown.
