BRIGHTON, Mass.<\/strong> \u2013 The Boston College baseball team was shut out, 2-0, by No. 8 Virginia Tech at the Harrington Athletics Village on Friday night. The Hokies (26-9, 10-7 ACC) broke a scoreless tie in the seventh on back-to-back home runs by center fielder Gavin Cross and shortstop Tanner Schobel.<\/p>\n For the second week in a row, senior right-hander\u00a0Joe Mancini<\/a><\/dfn> (Fairfield, Conn.)<\/strong> turned in a seven-inning effort but did not come away with a win. Mancini (2-3) took the loss despite only three hits allowed; striking out eight and walking two.<\/p>\n Righty Griffin Green (6-1) totaled 6.2 innings of shutout baseball to get the win as the Eagles stranded eight runners on base through the seventh. Green surrendered seven hits, two walks, and struck out seven. BC had runners on the corners and two down when he exited, but RHP Graham Firoved entered and ended the threat on a strikeout.<\/p>\n For the game, Boston College (15-23, 3-16) outhit Virginia Tech, 7-5.
